This made me think that the people of "Lilliput" were actually a kind and inviting group of people. Shortly after being named protector/defender there was a fire that broke out in the empresses part of the castle so Gulliver urinates on it to put it out and is then seen as a king or some sort of god sent from above, this leaving some people might become angry or jealous with Gulliver. Thus showing that there will be another change in action and their attitude towards Gulliver that's gonna be a mix of emotions throughout the remainder of the story.
Now with two different attitudes towards Gulliver present there could be mayhem throughout the kingdom. The king of "Lilliput" is the main reason for what happens next in that he makes everyone turn against Gulliver because of his jealousy towards him being seen as a god-like figure and degrading the king. He starts by talking smack about Gulliver saying he's a liar and that he doesn't actually want to try and help them in war and that he is harmless. This enrages the people and they now are back to a destroy and kill mode and thus changing their thoughts about how Gulliver once more
