Most people believe an important and enforced law on background could really help, as it has worked in Australia. Two other studies, here at home, in Connecticut and Missouri, provide evidence of the effectiveness of background check regulation. President Barack Obama initiated multiple efforts including a submission in the Congress of a universal background check law. Unfortunately, the proposed law failed because of a polarized congress with a majority of republicans in the House and a relative majority in the Senate. The latter urges the population to show support for state and federal efforts to have gun control and instant background checks. NAACP holds many movements in support of gun control. In addition, the organization promises to sue gun manufacturers, distributors, and importers in order to obtain restrictions on the marketing and sale of firearms in many states. There are 20 states that have successfully passed strict gun control laws. They also require state permits and background check before private purchase and/or at transfer point.
