When I took the political compass survey, I found out that I was in the authoritarian right range, near Joe Biden and Obama in 2008. As a member of the authoritarian right, I believe there should be stronger immigration laws to prevent illegal citizens. I am for the prevention of illegal citizens entering our country who do not pay taxes and are earning benefits the unlawful way. Like many other authoritarian rights in our present day government and candidates during the 2016 elections, I am pro-second amendment. Stronger gun laws should be enforced and background checks may be necessary, but denying our right to own a gun is not going to solve all crimes committed with this weapon. People look to guns for safety. The same people who advocate
against this issue are the ones being protected by the police -- with guns.
Minimum wage is widely debated topic, whether it should be raised or not. Unlike many authoritarian votes, I believe we do not need to raise the minimum wage. Jobs like working in fast food and shopping centers are not made to made a living out of. They are for teenagers and for the college aged to gain work experience. Also, when researching government spending, I discovered that my opinion is most like Donald Trump’s, who is also in the authoritarian right range. We need to eliminate government spending and to achieve this, making cuts to government programming is necessary. Programs that already make profit do not need government funding. Fortunately, my views on social and economic issues are similar to those of our current government, therefore I see a positive outlook in pertaining to these matters.
