Thesis Proposal/Abstract: Identity, who we are as individuals. Who am I? I am an American, a Christian, a country girl raised in the plains of the Midwest, but to me most importantly, I am a gun owner. I was raised to know how to fend for and protect myself and not to rely on anyone else for it. Therefore, I am a very strong supporter of our 2nd Amendment right as Americans and feel it is not only dangerous but also un-Constitutional to try and strip those rights away from Americans. I am not arguing that every person must own and operate guns, but I am saying that if you don’t believe in having them, don’t buy one. “Amendment II
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” (United States Constitution)
Gun Owners are Not Bad People Identity, who we are as individuals. Who am I? I am an American, a Christian, a country girl raised in the plains of the Midwest, but to me most importantly, I am a gun owner. I was raised to know how to fend for and protect myself and not to rely on anyone else for it. In today’s society it is often very difficult to be a gun owner, constantly being labeled a ‘bad person’. I believe as if people collectively judge gun owners, who are law abiding citizens, as criminals who go and shoot up schools, movie theaters or shopping malls. However, criminals are criminals and do not follow laws or obtain firearms legally. To change or nullify the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution is not only dangerous but also un-Constitutional.
I am not claiming that every person should own and operate guns, but I am saying that if you don’t believe in having them or are not comfortable with them, then don’t buy one. As a gun owner, I know that I am not a bad person, nor do I ever intend to use my firearms in a negative manner, and I am merely aspiring that everyone on the outside sees that aspect
