My reason to pursue the M.S. HCA degree is to gain relevant experience in the field of healthcare administration and further explore specific areas of the field—human resources, insurance, and government compliance. My interests in these areas stem from my previous work experiences as an Army Reserve medic (68W Mos), academia, work, and time spent in hospitals. All of these endeavors I went through loosely afforded me the opportunity to find the things that interest me in healthcare through passive experience. The M.S. HCA program can help further provide the experience, in my interest areas, and other areas of the field, I am seeking via curricula and in-field. The curricula taught in the program should expand the knowledge I previously obtained in my baccelaurate degree. In terms of in-field experience the program helps in multiple ways. As a volunteer at Mills-Peninsula Hospital, I can identify issues on-site, and grasp them in a greater capacity, due to what the program teaches students. Lastly, the M.S. HCA opens up more personal opportunities in healthcare for me; conducting research and dealing with organizations as apart of the required work affords me beneficial field experience as well as expanding my approach to problem
