The family returned to the United States in 1976 and put together the group known today as Habitat for Humanity. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalyn endorsed, volunteered, and helped to widely expand the program. Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. The donations from all of the different families and bigger agencies and companies go into the framework, the materials, and the services that are being offered. The cost and benefit for the program are efficient. The cost that goes into building the homes and the labor that goes into the projects produce the benefits of families having access to the basic necessities all humans need to survive such as running water.
