It is almost impossible to get a good education in Haiti. For the poorest children it is very difficult to get any education at all. Only about half of Haiti’s children ever attend school. Most who do never graduate from primary school; and only 38 of every thousand students complete high school. Grade levels are not broken down by age, but rather by the quality of work that students are able to do. Children tend to be more dependent, conforming, and willing to place family welfare over individual wishes.…

He did not pick up any American rats. He adapted to a new environment, but he still remained true to himself. He did not change one bit to fit in. He understood the culture but he did not pick up any new habits or attempt to resemble American culture. I do believe that pluralism existed because he attempted to maintain both American & Haitian ideas at a point but he was not necessarily focused on becoming americanized. Even at school he would make certain Haitian dishes and play different songs from his country. However, he would make it as a side to go with what some people would consider traditional american dishes, such as fried chicken, etc. Transnationalism was not not a major issue because he did not have any economic ties to Haiti. Of course he still had friends and family there so he socialized with them on social media. He still had cultural ties because after all of this time his accent never disappeared or became lss strong. He still cooked Haitian food here and speaks creole to other students that are from his country. My school does not have a diversity requirement, but they do promote diversity and welcome people from different races, religions, ethnicities, nationalities,…

The Republic of Haiti is in the western part of the island of Hispaniola in the West Indies. It is densely populated and has the lowest per capita income in the western hemisphere (Kemp, 2001). The population of more than seven million is made up of mostly descendents of African slaves brought to the West Indies by French colonists. The horrible conditions in Haiti, such as crushing poverty, unemployment and illiteracy, and high rates of acute and chronic illnesses and child and infant mortality, result in the illegal immigration of many Haitians to the United States, France, and other countries in Western Europe. Most immigrants are adults and teens who leave Haiti in tiny boats, despite the risk of drowning and other hazards. According to Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) 2001 statistics, the number of refugees has declined to several thousand per year since the early 1990's.…

Haiti has a population of nearly 9,801,664, while the total median age is at 21.6 years old. After the 2010 earthquake the preliminary 2011 numbers differ significantly from those of 2010 due to the demographic effect. Birth rate is 23.87 births/1,000 populations which is fairly low due to the lower life expectancy, higher infant mortality, higher death rates, and changes in the distribution of population by age and sex. The death rate is 8.1/1,000 population and was strongly influenced by the earthquake that took a heavily toll on the country. While the urban population is at 52 percent and the rate of urbanization is 3.9 percent, including the capital of Haiti, Port-Au-Prince, has 2.143 million people for the population and population below the poverty line is above 80 percent. Although many different regional cultures abound, a sense of national unity dominates the land. (Central Intelligence Agency) Linguistic, religious, ethnic, geographical, and historical factors all contribute to the French culture in many impactful ways. This distinct culture allows the French to provide interesting characteristics, values, and communication styles that can be very insightful when studying communication. France’s individualistic nature, a common trait of Western civilizations, seems to be the root of who the French are and how they communicate. Fifty Years from Now

In Haiti, I foresee lifestyle continuing as a major problem. Everyone has an individual way of living, but I want to address our selfishness. People these days are attaching to objects as if they are idols. People view themselves first and last. Caring for others is replaced with selfish thoughts, blown aside by a violent wind from their minds. Wealthy people in Haiti consider themselves powerful and above others. Due to their wealth, they are ignorant to laws that displeased them. Commonly, lifestyles could be viewed as “influence or pressure for popularity.” The influence begins with young teenagers and youth; this mentality is carried into adulthood. Teenagers are forced to follow others by doing wrong acts to fit in. Worse, is that some parents do nothing to stop this nonsense. . A wealthy man will be almost bowed down whether his works are right or wrong, fair or unfair. At the rate this is going, I believe lifestyle of Haitian society will worsen in fifty years.…
