For example, once soldiers stopped him in his car and order him to say, “Long live the Haitian army.” Farmer refuses at first, but eventually gives in when the soldiers point their guns at his head. We can see that Farmer is fearless and idealistic, but also practical. He gives into the Haitian soldier because he knows he’s too valuable to others to allow himself to be shot. This represents themes of saintliness and the value of life. Farmer values his own life only because of how important he is in saving hundreds of thousands of other lives. Due to this,

The way this was done was by talking about helping farmers in developing countries produce more food, making it more affordable to buy food, as well as not harming the environment. It goes on to say, “Many millions of people do not have access to sufficient calories and many more suffer from micronutrient deficiencies”. Another quote is, “which avoided mass starvation and helped millions out of poverty and hunger”. Would you rather be a murderer and bloody killer or a farmer who’s keeping people alive. In the 1400s and early 1500s, the Aztecs dominated the religion around modern day in Mexico city. There was 300 million people that lived there. “The Aztecs lived in a geological basin in central Mexico that is about the size of Rhode island. They were surrounded by high mountain peaks the basin extended 80 miles from north to south and 49 miles from east to west. In Aztec times the basin collected water that formed five interconnected shallow lakes. Which provided splendid irrigation for farming.”I got this from the background essay “ Should Historians emphasize Agriculture or Human Sacrifice.”.…

There is something mysterious about the reason why people feel the need to look out for one another. In some cases, it is like humans feel a certain obligation of compassion. The Grapes of Wrath encourages this part of human nature. During the Joad’s westbound journey, the characters were held face to face with people who needed help just as much as they did. In this way, John Steinback presents the question: how can we as humans support the livelihood of one another? His answer is that humans must support each other’s livelihood by providing what others are deprived of.…

Anyone would try their best, if possible, to save a friend’s life. Another example is, in Maple Spring Farm, Virginia, Joseph Martinez, a farmer, explains how he raises his own chickens and eats them to be closer to the whole cycle of the food chain. He feels that chickens have a sort of energy which brings life to the farm. Martinez feels that he has a special kind of connection with them by raising them, but is not hindered by the fact that he is going to have to eventually kill them to eat them. Some people might agree with Martinez’s thoughts about chickens because they might not think about chickens emotionally, but more on a worldly level and realize that that is just the way things work. In addition, in Oxford, Ohio, neighbors complained about how one man collected over one hundred roosters and the amount of noise that was produced completely disrupted the lives of the neighborhood. One man said, “I’d just crawl with a gun over there and start takin’ em out one by one.” To Bobby Wayne Webb, raising a rooster from the time when it is a chick is like a raising a child to him. He thinks the crowing is a lovely sound. Though he disrupted a neighborhood and got sued, his…

Yes I do believe that the military will be excepting of a culture changes. The culture of the military is forever going to be changing. It may not be as great as desegregation, woman’s rights, or as great as the LGBT movement. The world is changing and if you do not change with it you fall behind. I think the military is more open to change now than it was back in war ll. I do believe the military we able to handle the culture changes that it counters in the present and future. Because of what we've learned with in our own country. This will benefit us when learning other cultures around the world. We have never fight a war in our own country. So we should be open to new cultures if we are going to be in other countries. So times I think that the United States thinks it’s the only country in the world and that other people do not matter. Life outside the states if very different and uncommon to us. If we do not know their culture then how are we to understand who they are, what they believe in and why are they are fighting. This will help the goal of the military if the soldiers are well educated in the culture that they are fighting against. In many of the videos we watched in class a number of times the soldiers were talking to the local people. This is where I think educating the soldiers really…

It was a tragedy not because of the loss of food but because of the loss of an animal in his care. As the farmer says in the…
