Hamlet compare and contrast

Crazy Man Ham Hamlet is a play written in 1600-1602 by William Shakespeare. Hamlet feels a responsibility to avenge his father’s murder by his uncle dad Claudius, who is now the king and well-guarded. Hamlet’s biggest flaw is that he struggles with his doubts about whether he can trust his father’s ghost and whether killing Claudius is the most appropriate action to take. Both Branagh and Zeffirelli show that Revenge is only going to make situations worse and bring more harm to the avenger and many others. Zeffirelli’s version of Hamlet is much shorter and cuts out much of the play, unlike Branagh’s version which is acted out line by line. Although the Zeffirelli version is shorter than the Branagh version it still acts out many of the scenes that interpret both director’s perception of similar a theme. Hamlet’s desire to avenge his father/ the Kings death, starts after Claudius, the King’s brother, poisoned the King while he was asleep. Soon after the death of the King, Hamlets mother, the queen, marries Claudius. Hamlet goes into a turmoil because he isn’t able to find the perfect time to get revenge on Claudius. In act three, scene four Polonius decides to spy on Hamlet and the Queen while quarrel in her room. Hamlet begins to get very upset at his mother and tells her that “you go not till I set you up a glass, so you may see the most inner part of you. The queen then begins to feel threatened and yells for help, which makes Polonius shout for help also. Hamlet in a brainsick apprehension was expecting the person behind the drape to be Claudius, so Hamlet stabs the person unknowingly killing Polonius instead. The death of Polonius causes Ophelia, Polonius’s daughter and Laertes’s sister, to turn into a kook. Claudius arranges for Hamlet to be murdered in England, but the captain decides to not harm Hamlet, and inform him of what Claudius’s plan was. During Hamlets absence in the castle, Laertes arrives seeking revenge on whomever had slain his father. Soon after Laertes arrival, Ophelia ends up taking her own life by drowning in a nearby brook. Hamlet later returns home and attends a funeral not knowing that it was for Ophelia, and when he finds out he comes out from hiding and argues with Laertes who later challenges Hamlet to a sword fight/ fencing match. Claudius and Laertes plan to liquidate Hamlet either by poisoned wine or cutting him with a poisoned sword. Instead of Hamlet drinking the wine the Queen decide to drink it and then dies. Laertes wounds Hamlet with the poisoned sword and the two start to scuffle and Hamlet ends up with the poisoned sword and cuts Laertes and pushes him over the edge and falls later dying. Claudius then tries to run and Hamlet stabs and kills him also. Shortly after, Hamlet dies from being cut with the poisoned sword.
