Hamlet Is Faking Being Insane

The Connection In the story Hamlet, Hamlet is faking being insane because everyone around him is trying to trick him, which makes Hamlet thinks Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were friends, but they weren’t because they came to spy on him. Hamlet intends to act odd to make people think he is insane or as a distraction to keep everyone out of the way. Hamlet does not take jokes or put up with anyone while solving a problem of his own. Hamlet focuses on his plot of revenge while getting accused of being insane. The saddest thing is when people around you that once were friends or have loved you so much you never thought they would all disappear, and become strangers. Life changes when something happens and without a doubt you may do something
You can push my buttons, but you can’t play me for a fool” (Shakespeare 3.2.336-40). Hamlet means he is not a pipe that can be played whenever, and he is the person who can see the tricks and lies and can’t be fooled easily. Also, that's when Hamlet found out they were not true friends, they were fake, but nothing will stop Hamlet either way. Another quote from Hamlet’s point of view, stating he isn’t crazy is “Madness? My heart beats just as evenly as yours does. There’s nothing crazy in what I’ve just uttered. Put me to the test. I’ll rephrase everything I’ve just said, which a lunatic couldn’t do” (Shakespeare 3.4.143-55). This quote tells you he is faking being insane as well because Hamlet is saying he could recall what he says, which a lunatic wouldn’t be able to do. People around Hamlet think he is going crazy, although it could be everyone else. For instance, Hamlet should be able to speak his mind and be straight forward because he is trying to tell the truth but no one will listen. Also, someone like Hamlet has time to plot out his revenge and knows what he is going to do. A lunatic would have no clue to do something like
Hamlet still doesn’t sound insane though, because coming back to deliver a message to Ophelia could mean something important just for her. He might want to to say what is going to happen and warn her without scaring or hurting her more than she already was. Hamlet is not insane. People are trying to manipulate him to become insane. However, he has a clear mind and is able to plot his revenge. Hamlet may have suffered and dealt with a lot, but that doesn’t mean he is crazy. Hamlet dealt with fake friends, love, and loss, which makes life more complicated. This does not mean Hamlet is going to give up though until he gets what he wants. Also, why Hamlet is not insane and is faking being insane to have the freedom to examine Claudius’s guilt, to find a way to do what the ghost; his father, asks him to do. Also, to make people think he was not a threat, to distract the attention from investigating into his father’s death while people got in his way and tried to ruin it. That is why I believe Hamlet is faking being insane because everyone around him tries to trick him and he doesn’t fall for their games, and he manages to give all he can and never gives up. He did accomplish on tricking everyone else and play mind games to think he is insane, but all in all he just wanted to get the truth about his father’s death and revenge and he wants it known he is not
