Hamlet Monologue

The coffee shop buzzed with excitement as the manager opened the doors to thirsty patrons releasing the sweet aroma of dark roasted coffee beans onto the streets of Rome. As the customers bustled through the tight doors they jostled each other around to establish a position in the line to get a taste of Johnny’s delicious coffee. Johnny stood watching all of the commotion, and his baristas frantically making exquisite orders for the picky tourists. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary today, except that he had a few more customers than he usually did. Eventually, his shop began to overfill, and customers were spilling out of the shop and sitting on the curb. “What a conundrum we have here” Johnny thought to himself as a man
Oh lady you better not ask where I hail from or you will be meeting my little friends who will take you for a swim with the fishes. Better yet don’t ask me anything lassie, not a single question.
Cordelia: Why dost thou speak in such harsh terms Paul? Being banished from the home of my father in England, I have taken up wandering the world after my husband the King of France passed into eternal sleep last month, and now I tell my story to all who will listen.
Mattie: Why Hamlet what question plagues your mind, I am sure that as a group we can help you reach a solution.
Hamlet:” To be, or not to be- that is the question. Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing end them” (III.I.55-60) The pain that pangs my heart, I can bare no longer. My mother sleeps with my father’s murderer, and thinks nothing of her incestuous act that poison all of Denmark. My devious Uncle poisoned my father whilst he slept. This great man murdered in the most coward of ways by a coward using poison.
Paul: Well listen here my friend it seems to me you are in need of the sweetest thing this loveless planet has to offer.
Hamlet: What would that be
“Don’t let the grass grow under your feet, but make sure there’s something growing everywhere else”(Kingsolver) Hamlet life will be a beautiful thing for you if you stop the revenge from growing, and let your love and forgiveness grow. By God if you follow this advice Hamlet your life will be successful, and happy unlike the Paul fellow.
Hamlet: I appreciate your comments, but the anger that fuels my actions can not be quenched until I witness my uncle’s warm blood dripping down his body, and his life fading from his eyes. Only then will I fill this bottomless pit that I call my conscience. I know what must be done to become a man, and until I do so my life will hold no satisfaction. I thank you all for the rousing conversation we had today, but I must depart for my ship to Denmark. Adieu, adieu my new companions.
Paul: See you around pal, remember me when you avenge your father.
Mattie: Oh Hamlet, I know you will make the right choice in the future. Goodbye and let this not be the last time we see each
