Today, one of the major issued of the society is sickness and disease. Colds, influenza, conjunctivitis and sore throat are what we may call common but that doesn’t change the fact that they inconvenient and as to the word “disease” itself, dis-ease. People are looking the best way to protect themselves against these said diseases. The Department of Health (DOH) has often reminded us trough printed advertisement and TV commercials that frequent handwashing with soap can help us killed disease-causing germs thus preventing the disease itself altogether. But not all the time we have the luxury to wash our hands like we out of the city, or in the market, or inside the movie theater. One solution to this problem is bringing a small bottle of alcohol wherever you go but studies have shown that alcohol, as effective as it is in killing germs, can dry our skin. Then there came the rise of hand sanitizers. Using hand sanitizer is an effective and hassle-free way in killing germs. It is a supplemental or alternative to hand washing with soap and water. Usually, commercial hand sanitizer products contain the 60% alcohol necessary to kill germs effectively and safely but employ additional ingredients to moisturize and condition the skin. That is why we decided to create a hand sanitizer for our investigatory project. But unlike most commercial hand sanitizers in the market, we will be using natural ingredients like plants and such.
PURPOSE
Our purpose of conducting this Investigatory project is to produce an eco-friendly and effective hand sanitizer using plants and other natural ingredients that can be an alternative to commercial hand sanitizers.
PROBLEMS
1. What are the appropriate plants/fruits to be used in the sanitizer?
2. Will the said sanitizer do its function?
3. Is the final product competent to commercial hand sanitizers now out in the market?
HYPOTHESIS
1. The mixture might be aqueous because of the high amount of alcohol.
2. The
