Hand Sanitizer Pandemic Hypothesis

The research question used during this experiment was if the usage of hand sanitizer would increase with pandemic of H1N1 occurring during this time. The methodology used for the question was the use of signs near the sanitizers. The signs were categorized by their specific intent. The independent variable for the experiment was the different sign that were placed near the hand sanitizers. The first sign was the perceived susceptibility social norms. The dependent variable in this experiment was the hand sanitizer. The control variable was the amount of hand sanitizer in each of the four bottles. One of the confounding variable during the experiment was when no data was collected during the holiday break this could have skewed the data some.
They decided to use to signs as a way to maybe get more used from the hand sanitizer dispensers. Each of the four signs hand their own intent perceived susceptibly which the sign was intended to inform people of H1N1 to get them to take use the hand sanitizer so they would not catch the disease. They also used the social norm sign that showcased how everyone should use the hand sanitizer machine. They also used the gain framed which promoted the use of the hand sanitizer machine with the positive outcome as well. The loss framed showed the negative consequences of not using the hand sanitizer machine.
