There is a reason why Hansel and Gretel is a fairytale that will stay with us everlastingly due to the profound and rich importance of the story. “We pretend to know all about “Hansel and Gretel” because we live by assumptions that have a scholarly veneer but actually promote ignorance.” (J. Vipes, 41) This is a piece of history since it is created by individuals and demonstrates to us the profound significance of the fairytale and how we associate it to utilize it in our daily lives. This tale demonstrates to us the authenticity of how it identifies with the world and the association of how children are being treated. The genuine significance being exposed to the attitude and treatment towards children is shown through the fairytale of “Hansel and Gretel.” This shows the gruel aspects of the circumstances and the horror scenes that are twisted. The children heard the parent’s conversation of getting rid of them and Hansel had to do something, he got some shiny pebbles and created a path so they would find their way back easily. Hansel and Gretel are in the forest all alone and independent because they don’t have their parents with them to depend on. The two protagonist in the story, Hansel and Gretel shows us what each gender is capable of doing. Hansel being the weak one in the story and Gretel being the intelligent and strong one. They have to decide for themselves of what they are going to do next, and then later appeared in front of a house made of bread and cake. A woman opens the door for them and invites them inside, as vulnerable children, they went inside and later learned their first lesson of reality of trust and truth. Fairy tales are meant to teach about life lessons and morals like don’t talk to strangers and don’t trust them. The witch in Hansel and Gretel tries to tempt the children to come into her house, “Well, dear children, how in the world did you get here? Come right inside and stay with me. No harm will come to you here.” (Tatar, 239) They later learn that the woman was a wicked witch and only pretended to be nice. This was the consequence that they had to deal with because of the choices they
