Background[edit]
Williams provided vocals for French duo Daft Punk's 2013 album Random Access Memories, on the songs "Lose Yourself to Dance" and "Get Lucky". After returning from the recording sessions in Paris, he attended a meeting with record label managers who said that the results were "spectacular" and that "Get Lucky" would be Daft Punk's next single. They also made Williams an offer to record his own album, to which he agreed quickly, "overwhelmed that someone wanted to know what's in my heart."[9] On December 17, 2013, it was announced that Williams had signed to Columbia Records and would release his second studio album in 2014.[10] In a December 2013 press release, Rob Stringer, Chairman of Columbia Records, said "When we excitedly partnered with Pharrell in January of this year, we felt it was his time again. Since then, 'Blurred Lines' and 'Get Lucky' have defined pop music in 2013, and now we are preparing to launch Pharrell as a global solo superstar in 2014. 'Happy' is just the beginning."[10]
Williams originally wrote the song for CeeLo Green and felt Green's recording of the song was better, but Elektra Records, Green's record label, decided against it since he was on the verge of releasing a Christmas album.[11]
Composition[edit]
"Happy" was written and produced by Williams, with backing vocals by Rhiea Dummett, Trevon Henderson, Ashley L. Lee, Shamika Hightower, Jasmine Murray and Terrence Rolle.[12] The track was digitally edited and arranged by Andrew Coleman and Mike Larson, who also recorded it with assistance from Matthew Desrameaux at Circle House Studios in Miami, Florida. The song was later mixed by Leslie Brathwaite at Music Box Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.[12]
"Happy" plays for 3 minutes and 53 seconds[1] in common time and at a tempo of 160 beats per minute.[13][14] It is a neo soul and funk song in the key of F minor. Williams sings the upper notes in falsetto; his vocal range spans from F4 to C6.[14][15] His singing on the

Byzantine culture, political organization, and economic orientation help to explain the rift between the eastern and western versions of Christianity. Different rituals grew from Greek and Latin versions of the Bible. Emperors resisted papal attempts to interfere in religious issues. Hostility greeted the effort of the Frankish king, Charlemagne, to be recognized as Roman emperor. The final break between the two churches occurred in 1054 over arguments about the type of bread used in the mass and the celibacy of priests. Even though the two churches remained separate, they continued to share a common classical heritage.…

Happiness in the Meriam Webster Dictionary is defined as a state of well-being and contentment, a pleasurable or satisfying experience, good fortune or prosperity, or a state of being happy. Upon reading this I decided to also so what the definition of happy is. Happy is defined as favored by luck of fortune, notably fitting, effective, or well adapted, and enjoying or characterized by well-being and contentment. So is happiness a measure of fortune and wealth? Is it measured by how well adjusted a person is? Or is someone who is only content with life happy? How could one test possibly determine such an array of factors reliably?…

What is happiness? That is not a question that may be easily answered. Due to the fact that every human-being possesses their own views on life, it is possible that there are innumerable interpretations of what is ultimately this idea seen as happiness. For the purpose of interpreting the idea of happiness as opposed to “being happy” I believe that it is necessary that there be a more continual and perpetual meaning is attached to happiness. I do not believe that actual happiness is a fleeting experience, but instead, a lasting state in which someone finds themselves. When looking to a dictionary or other source of reference to determine an official and concrete meaning behind happiness, the Miriam-Webster…

According the Oxford Dictionary, the definition of Happiness is being pleased, being satisfied, and being lucky (Oxford Dictionary). However, the definition of being happy is different for everyone. There are many elements to one person’s happiness, whether that be fame or fortune, or something that most take advantage of such as a roof over their head, or dinner on the table every night. Happiness is an emotion that can be uncontrolled, and is forever changing. Expectations are a major reason why a person’s happiness is manipulated every second of everyday. According to a health website “Positive Med,” there are six major emotions which include anger, fear, surprise, disgust, happiness, and sadness. According to this, happiness only occurs…

Do you know what happiness is? It’s an odd thing to think about because happiness comes so easy for most people. Happiness can be anything from a loved one smiling, a puppy stretching, or the full feeling after a yummy meal. Although, when we are down in the dumps how can we still find that happiness? We can revolutionize our own happiness along with others by using, what I like to call, the happy methods.…

Bobby McFerrin is not only an excellent singer; he is also a great composer and a renowned classical conductor. He manages to combine elements of jazz, folk, choral, a capella and classical music in his work, which makes it extremely unique and colourful. Most people know McFerrin thanks to his commercial hit ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy,’ which comes from the album ‘Simple Pleasures’ (1988). According to Bobby himself it took only about an hour to write the famous lyrics. He also claims he did not do a single thing to promote the song and admits that hearing ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’ on the radio keeps surprising him. I personally like this song a lot but the truth is that Bobby wrote much more interesting pieces. The gained commercial success luckily did not spoil McFerrin’s musical taste. He went on composing his unique music and did not try to slip into the muddy waters of pop music.…
