Harbord is not a semestered as a result students will have to rigorously handle eight courses throughout the year and then study for all of the exams or summatives near the end of the school year. Although it may seem equal or even less stressful having all of your courses spread out throughout the year, students have to try harder and retain all the knowledge for 8 courses. Teachers in Harbord often put the “model student” on a pedestal and make you work your fingers to the bone and even though you stayed up all night to follow the rubric perfectly, it doesn’t come close to the model student and you end up getting around the class average. Last year in my English class, my teacher idolized one student because he was always amazing in his presentations and as a result he was the only one who received higher than a 90 while there were people who followed the rubric and put a lot of time and work into their presentation, the teacher disregarded their own rubric and marks students on the standards centering towards the
