|What were the pros/cons for |Patriots began the revolution in weak position. They were not organized. |…
With horrible conditions the Patriots struggle to stay alive. Since the beginning of the summer of 1775, George Washington established a camp for the Patriots called Valley Forge. The soldiers at the camp were very miserable because of the conditions. The Patriots…
The Political changes and advancements made both during and after the Seven Years War were astonishing. During the War the British Motherland supplied the American Front with many troops, this was indeed the deciding factor in the victory over the French, however it also gave the colonists their first taste of just how different the Motherland viewed the colonists politically as compared to its natural citizens. As shown in document D, the colonial forces realized that the supplies that were desperately needed for the coming winter may never arrive, and that it was now apparent to the colonial soldiers that they were no better to the British soldiers than a slave is to its master. Those supplies, more often than not, never arrived to the colonial forces camps; this was not out of lack of supplies for everyone though, because the British forces received numerous supplies as needed. The colonists did not receive these provisions due to the lack of belief by the British war council that the colonists would put them to efficient use. Though there was much dispute over who played the larger role in the victory over the French, the war was still won by the British and its colonies and there was much gained by this momentous occasion.…
One of the bigger supporters for the colonist during the American revolution was France. France helped out during the war due to the fact that in recent years France lost to the seven years of war and was hoping to gain back most of the land they just lost. For instance, the Office of Historians stated, “... the French provided supplies, arms and ammunition, uniforms, and, most importantly,…
The Revolutionary War was one of the most important events in history for America and Britain. The war, in a way, helped America become its own nation and declare independence from Britain. At the time of the Revolutionary War, the English were in control of the Americans. Both sides had crucial advantages over each other that decided the outcome of the war. Let’s start with colonists; one of the biggest advantages they had over Britain was they had a major cause for wanting to fight. They were fighting for their independence, pride, liberty and the rights they deserved. They had a desire to win which was probably stronger than England’s desire because they were fighting for their own cause. Another major advantage America had was how far away from home the British were. They were over 3,000 miles from home, leading to poor communication with supply lines and their leaders. America was unfamiliar territory for the English which was another major advantage the colonists had. It was difficult for the British to capture and hold territory because of how large America was. America knew the ins and outs of their own land, including where to hide and shortcuts. Another reason America had an advantage over Britain was that the English citizens were tired of war. The war had begun to turn into years and citizens were getting tired of paying taxes and just the war in general. In my opinion one of the biggest advantages the colonists had was how great a leader George Washington was. American soldiers were outnumbered and not as well trained as the English soldiers, but because of Washington’s brilliance and strategy it helped the colonists prevail over Britain. On the other hand Britain also had many advantages over the Americans. A major advantage the British had was they were very wealthy and could pay their soldiers to fight. They also had much more supplies for their…
The Revolutionary War was a tragic and painstaking war fought between America and Great Britain from April nineteenth, 1775, to September third, 1783. The main conflict was over America’s longing for independence, and Britain denying them of this freedom. Even though Britain was at the height of its power, and the United States had a ragtag army and limited resources, America was the unlikely victor. While Britain appeared to have the upper hand, America had a few unpredictable advantages. First of all, allies such as France and Spain aided them on many different grounds that pulled them to victory. Strength was also found in the leadership from the generals, particularly George Washington.…
At the start of the American Revolutionary War the odds were pitted heavily in favor of an easy British victory. The British had the largest empire in the world at the time, the largest navy, and the best trained standing army of the day. America only had a militia, no means of raising money to obtain supplies, and no navy. Also Britain had just finished winning a war to defeat France, which gave the French a reason to help the colonies later in the war. However, even though the British were expected to win, both America and Britain had tactics that were both alike and dissimilar; which in turn played a pivotal role in the outcome of the war. What really helped the colonists during the war was a change…
A soldier in the American revolution was called a militia. An American soldier of the American revolution were not living in good conditions. The American revolution was from 1775 to 1783. For the soldiers there was a lot of shortages in the people's necessities like money, weapons, food, clothing and shelter. The American soldiers lived and fought in a non-sanitary environment. Diseases were easy to catch and were easily spread. These strong American soldiers never gave up hope and never complained about the bad conditions they were in.…
Bad weather, the lack of roads, a shortage of wagons and the lack of an executive in the Continental government were some of the many problems. (George Washington’s Winter at Valley Forge 1777-1778 ) George Washington’s Winter at Valley Forge 1777-1778 “The Army which has surprisingly healthy hitherto, now begins to grow sickly from the continued fatigues the have suffered this Campaign. I am sick- discontented- and out of humor. Poor food-hard lodging- cold-weather-fatigue-nasty cloaths- nasty cookery- vomit half my time- smoak’d out of my senses-the Devil’s in’t- I can’t endure it …. “ (Document C, pg. 151) We live in small huts and I have to share a hut with 12 people. (video) Lots of smoke is in the air. “Heartily wish myself at home, my skin and eyes are almost spoil’d with continual smoke.” Not many people in the army have shoes. ( The Story of Valley Forge) This reason is causing me not to re-enlist because I don’t think I would be able to endure the awful…
• Americans would pay debts to British merchants and honor Loyalists claims for property that were confiscated during the war.…
okay cause they didn’t support them which is disturbingly selfish and selfless. Sometimes the loyalists houses and properties were burned up/taken away. There was sticky tar placed on their skin and feathers stuck on them and that would suffocate them to death. Patriots felt as if the British Parliament had no rights or say on how to spend taxes.…
During the American Revolution, the American army had to stay in the cold weather without any proper clothing on similar to heavy coats or blankets to avoid the cold, lack of foods due to the massive amount of soldiers, and that most of the soldiers were citizens without any proper fighting training yet they fought for freedoms. These reasons could have impacted the American army but due to their courage and power they overcome the problems and won many battles…
In this time period America faced a lot with the wars. Some of our states were being targeted by British Soldiers in the war. In 1780 the patriots from America tried to push the British soldiers out of our country. The American soldiers were to tired and hungry to fight anymore. Most of the soldiers tried to escape, but couldn’t. According to General Nathanael Greene, he had never witnessed such scenes before in his life. General Greene was very discouraged when he arrived to the scene. America finally had a new plan to fight against the British Army. The American soldiers were going to plan a surprise attack on British soldiers. It was going to disrupt their communication and supply line. I think this was one of the biggest challenges America faced.…
In 1775 the War of Independence began and continued until 1782. One obvious advantage was that America knew the inhospitable terrain in which they were fighting in whereas Britain did not. This was a large contributing factor to the outcome of the war. Consequently Britain suffered significant losses during the harsh winters in August – October 1777. Britain had only ever really fought major wars in Europe and never had to face treacherous weather conditions such as these. The American’s knowledge of the area was also a significant advantage. Moreover, America were well equipped for this and really penalised the British for their lack of preparation.…
To be a patriotic hero is to be willing to kill anything and anyone that gets in the way of making the U.S a safer country to live in; that means killing innocent children. To be a humane hero is to not believe in killing innocent children, or in general people to save others. It all comes down whether you want to be the hero soldier or the society hero. At the end, one will be a murderer and the other the heroic saint.…
