Haribo Gummy Worm
A comparison between Trolli, Sweet Smiles, and Haribo Gummy Worm: Flavor, Chewiness, and Elasticity
Vintrelle T. Hart
Ferrum College

INTRODUCTION The purpose of the design is to test and compare three brands of gummy bears. The three bands we will be testing are Trolli, Sweet Smiles, and Haribo. The purpose of the experiment was to test and compare the three brands to determine which has the best chewiness and which has the best flavor. The third criteria tested was the elasticity between the three brands, meaning which brand can resume normal shape after being stretched. Our prediction for the study was that Trolli will be ranked highest in both flavor and chewiness. We also predicted that the subjects responses will prove that

To do this we simply stretched the various brands of gummy bears, to the point where they could stretch no further, before they tore in half. Trolli once again had the highest number in terms of the averages. Tolli had an average of 6.7cm. The Sweet Smiles brand had an average of 3.83, and the Haribo brand had an average of 3.1. Does size play a role in the chewiness, flavor, or elasticity of the gummy worm? Here we decided to weight each gummy worm. The Trolli gummy bears, being slightly larger than that of the other two brands, Haribo and Sweet Smiles, obviously weighed more. Figure 1.4 Gummy bear weights To weigh each of the gummy bears we used a balance. Each of the three brands was weighed three times. We then submerged one of each type of gummy worm in a 500ml beaker for about 15 minutes. This was to get an accurate measure of their weight, by averaging the average weight before and after they were placed in water. Figure 1.4 shows a representation of the results.
CONCLUSION

In summary, our hypothesis was proved right. We predicted that Trolli would be ranked highest in both flavor and chewiness. In comparing the three brands, Trolli, Sweet Smiles, and Haribo, Trolli was rated highest in flavor and chewiness. Trolli also had the largest rate in elasticity. El Bubble gum cigars have a clear crackly wrapper that lets you see the bubble gums true color. Once you open the clear crackly wrapper the aroma of sweet sugar fills the air around you. The outstretched bubble gum cigar has a delicious sudden burst of surgery sweetness that waters your mouth when you begin to chew it. The bubble gum cigar has a pastel lime green coloring,AAAAA almost like a cartoon green. When you bite into the solid cigar and begin to examine the chewy center it is darker on the outside and lighter on the inside. When you unwrap the crackly wrapper the first touch you feel is the hard solid smooth outside. However when you begin to take a bite it is bendable and soft like Gumby. When you chew a piece of bubble gum and your saliva softens the gum it begins to create a smacking sound. The best thing about El Bubble bubble gum cigars is blowing a bubble that grows and grows until it pops with a loud…

Gummy bears are made up of a mixture of sugar and glucose syrup along with citric acid and gelatin. Citric acid is an organic acid to add a sour taste to food and drinks. Gelatin is a mixture of peptides and proteins produced by partial hydrolysis of collagen extracted from the skin. Therefore, the salt water entered the blue gummy bear and mixed up with the sugar and glucose syrup leaving it small and hard. The orange gummy bear increased in size and mass because the water entered the body and mixed up with ingredients, causing the gelatin to…

The Kellogg Company is the world's leading producer of cereals. Its products are manufactured in 18 countries and sold in more than 180 countries. For more than 100 years, Kellogg's has been a leader in health and nutrition through providing consumers with a wide variety of food products. These are designed to be part of a balanced diet and meet the different tastes of consumers. Kellogg's focuses on sustainable growth. This involves constantly looking for ways to meet consumer needs by growing the cereal business and expanding its product portfolio. Market research is a specific area of marketing that informs businesses like Kellogg's about the things consumers need, how best to design products to answer those needs and how to advertise those products to consumers. Market research goes beyond finding out what consumers are thinking today. It can identify what consumers might want in the future. In this way market research helps a business to make more informed choices. This reduces the risks for any new product development (NPD). It also increases the likelihood that products will be well received by consumers when they are launched. Kellogg's launched Crunchy Nut Cornflakes in the UK in 1980. Since then, it has become one of the most important brands for Kellogg's with a sales value of £68 million (according to IRI sales data). In 2003 the Crunchy Nut brand created a brand extension. This involved using the Crunchy Nut name to launch a new product called Crunchy Nut Clusters. This variant has two varieties, Milk Chocolate Curls and Honey and Nut. Both of them have enabled the brand to reach a wider group of consumers. This brand extension is now worth £21 million in annual value sales (according to IRI sales data). This case study focuses on the importance of market research during the development and launch of Crunchy Nut Bites, a more recent extension to the Crunchy Nut brand. The objective of this innovation was to provide a new flavour and texture for…

One of the main reasons I think bite-size candies are so popular with adults is because of the portion size. For example, in my office whenever we have bite-size candies like snickers, milky-way, and 3 musketeers the women in the office will eat the bite-sized candies here and there. They enjoy being able to eat just that little piece to satisfy their sweet tooth. Also, adults tend to not have as big of a sweet tooth as children do. Having the smaller portion is just enough to satisfy the sweet tooth of an adult. “Bite-size products are especially popular with adult consumers” explains Peter & Olson (2010, p. 383). They are especially popular come holidays like Christmas and Easter. Bite-sized candies are a great snack that many adults will sit on their living room tables or in their kitchen. This is popular for holiday parties as well. The holiday season basically gives adults a reason to eat bite-sized candies.…
