Defence Against the Dark Arts is a required subject from first year to fifth year. The curriculum of the class varies greatly depending on what the professor at the time deems appropriate; due to the Jinx on the teaching post that was present prior to the death of Lord Voldemort, a great many teachers have been appointed.

In the fifth year Ordinary Wizarding Level examinations are taken; as such students are spent learning new topics and possibly revisiting the past four years of lessons (depending on the teacher). As part of their Defence Against the Darks O.W.L., students must sit a written exam one of the questions asks to describe the five signs of a werewolf and after sudents must complete a practical exam of; counter-jinxes and Defensive Spells, Riddikulus, and the Patronus Charm (for bonus points).

To advance to the N.E.W.T. class a student must first achieve a high O.W.L. score of either an 'Outstanding' or an 'Exceeds Expectations', most teachers set the bar at 'Exceeds Expectations'.

Also due to the course being directly related to the Dark Arts itself, dark wizards who wish to teach would typically apply for this course, notably being Lord Voldemort and Severus Snape .
During the 1995-1996 school year, the Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, had gotten into his head that Headmaster Albus Dumbledore was using the students to create a private army of young wizards to overthrow the Ministry. As such, he implanted Umbridge to become the teacher of the Defence Against the Dark Arts classes, which he believed to be the main source of training (i.e. Defensive spells) for Dumbledore's would-be soldiers, and supplied a syllabus based entirely on theories on avoiding conflicts instead of facing them, all of which was simply reading out of the textbook, believing that this would be sufficient in passing the examinations. This misguided belief deprived the students on any useful lessons as even the theories are inaccurate, thus leading to the

The film “When Harry Met Sally” is rife with examples of interpersonal communication victories and utter failures. The main characters- Harry Burns played by Billy Crystal and Sally Albright played by Meg Ryan- are captive to each other’s company during a car ride from Chicago to New York and quickly find they maintain very opposite viewpoints on much of life, especially relationships between men and women. The premise for the argument and the remainder of the film is the disagreement as to whether or not women and men can be friends without sex getting in the way. Harry maintains it is not possible, and Sally takes the opposite position. Throughout the film Harry and Sally display a number of different communication traits. Their style of communication is determined largely by the way they regard themselves and the way they perceive others. These factors of communication provide for a rollercoaster of interactions throughout the film.…

Assessment requirements Candidates must successfully complete all parts of an assessment to a satisfactory and appropriate standard in order to gain a pass for that assessment. The assessments have been designed to assess the ability of candidates to cover a range of issues associated with a given unit. Consequently, it is not appropriate for parts of any assessment to be omitted, submitted incomplete or be of an unsatisfactory standard. Tutors/assessors are reminded of their responsibility to provide written feedback to candidates regarding their assessments and of the fact that candidates should not be encouraged to submit work for final assessment until it is complete and to the appropriate standard for the task. Candidates must have achieved the minimum marks indicated for each task, and the overall assessment. Candidates may retake any particular task. Guidance on this is provided in the Assessment guidance document. Candidates may choose to word process their answers. Assessors may guide candidates in the length of their responses. They should use the marking guidance as a rough indication of what should be covered, and use the space provided in the task box as a guide as to how much should be written. Resubmission Candidates may resubmit their assessment work if tasks were failed on the first submission if centres think that a further assessment opportunity would result in a positive outcome for the candidate. Grading and marking Assessments are marked by the centre and graded Pass/Fail only. The…

Influence is the capacity or power of persons to produce an effect on the actions of others. Victor Flemming, the director of the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, depicts a message that revolves around the reversal of power and gender roles. Moreover, Dorothy is a child in her physical presence but lives the role of a hero as she leads the scarecrow, lion, and tin man to the Wizard himself. Through the archetypes such as the hero being a women, Cultural values, and the stages of the journey, Flemming raises the argument that in this case those who don 't have much influence in society are very influential in the Emerald City.…

“Jeremiah's message was a mixture of judgment on the sinful nation of Judah; and hope, after judgment and exile, of a new covenant relationship. Comparing the parallels between Judah and the spiritually low tide of our nation today, what message and teaching could be drawn from Jeremiah's portrayal of God as the Divine Potter? In a world fractured by religious, social, political, and culture tensions, how might we Christ Followers relate Paul's concept of "When the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son..." (Galatians 4:4 ESV) to an upside down 21st century world?”…

There are a number of central themes in Harry Potter that make it a tremendously powerful allegory to the current environment. The fact that it was created unwittingly by the tremendously liberal Rowling only furthers the beauty of the work. Just as Fake News is an example of using the power of their own words against the bastion of liberalism, so too can the works of Harry Potter draw powerful parallels to our cause. Here are a number of similarities between this clear work of fiction and the actual political environment. In spite of the author’s hopes, she wrote a prescient description of the political environment that provides a blueprint of faith to be followed by the individual in the overwhelming face of bureaucratic oppression. Thank…
