I have been working at Hartford Hospital for over two years now. During those two years, I have heard about the financial struggles that Governor Dannel P. Malloy budget cuts would do to the hospital (Niles, 2015, p. 378). I, also have learned about the two outpatient surgical centers that Hartford Hospital runs (Niles, 2015, p. 378). Hartford Hospital is currently building a new Bone and Joint Center with the hope of attracting more business to their facilities; I am assuming that Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network will also benefit from this increase of patients.

Most people are unaware that a robotic surgery will lengthen your procedure, it can take 30 minutes to an hour to get a da Vinci robot docked (setup and ready to perform a procedure). I have heard of cases where patients will request a robotic procedure because they “heard” it was better for them. In my opinion, physicians will typically perform an operation via the method they are more comfortable with; I want my doctor comfortable and confident in their skills when operating on me.
