Have we too dependent on computers?
Have we become too dependent on computers?
In today’s world, the technology is increasing fast. Our new generation is now more modern then we can imagine. People are depending on technology for all their work. In all this I think they have forgotten something which is called ‘hard work’. We really are too much depending on computers?
Computers automated processes that previously had to be performed in a repetitive way. The first computer was built more than fifty years ago, and did not penetrate the world until about twenty years ago. Before that, computers were very expensive, and an individual could not imagine owning one. Not many organizations even had a chance to buy one, since the machines were so expensive, and hard to find in the market.
Personal computers were introduced in early eighties, and they have changed our lives in a significant manner. It is even hard to imagine a world without computers, since the world has become so dependent on them. For example, the agony a bank undergoes, when the main computer is not functioning, is enormously great, the customers complain of inadequate services, and even the employees’ panic in response. If such a thing happens to a bank, and the chaos is that much, what would be things like if the Internet broke down in the entire world? It is unimaginable. It is like the computer is the main thing controlling the activities of this world.
It is amazing how computers can be used to manufacture even more sophisticated computers with greater processing speed, and computing power of handling up to 5 billion instructions in a second of time .This is big. This is a clear indication that a human brain will be left behind in the future, because nobody will bother to know, how the whole system works. The scholars will no longer use paper books, but instead they will prefer the use of e-books on the iPads .The books in the stores and major books will no longer have meaning to school-going children, because access to laptops

We are in charge of the computer, and not the other way around. The web should be used to deepen the thoughts of our brains instead of letting the shallowness of our thoughts deepen googles search…

Computers have been modified a several times. They have come a long way since Charles Babbage invented his Difference Engine. His early computers could only make complicated calculations and print the results. But the computers that we have today are able to do much more than that. Today we use computers to play games, watch movies, listen to music etc. Now, this new world is totally changed. We have computers for all the work that people used to do manually. For example, if we solve a mathematical equation by our hand, we would take much more time as compared to a computer system solving the same mathematical equation. Most people prefer computers rather than hands because it has proved its worth.…

Being that we are still at the beginning of a new era of technology: the progress we have seen up to now is clearly just the beginning. Current technology trajectories suggest that in the near future some form of technology will influence every person on earth. As of 2012, nearly 35% of the earths population area already using the Internet, not to say what percentage of people already own different types of technology. We see in “Humans 2.0” that Ray Kurzweil stated, “–within 20 years or so about everyone will walk around with computer stuff wired into their heads and within 40 years our natural brain power will only be a fraction of our total brainpower.” He is simply saying that within our lifetime the need to rely on our brain capacity for our knowledge will no longer be an issue. With this new computer technology we will only have to save this information to a memory file right inside of our own brains, as if we each had our own external hard drive. This technological development is also mentioned in the text “Mann and Machine”…

Computers have been around for many years and it has become difficult to imagine life without them. They are present almost everywhere we go - at the supermarket, at the bank, at home, in the car. Computers are more efficient than we humans are, at least when it comes to calculations and related topics - as the name computer implies (to compute - to calculate). The question is, however - could we do without computers? Are computers really necessary, or do we just use them because they are here, out of habit so to speak and in reality, they are more a curse than a blessing?…
