There’s several key “ingredients” and steps to a building and keeping successful relationship. You can skip a step or two at your own risk. Some steps you absolutely cannot omit. I’ll be discussing and describing each of these steps and elaborate on what will likely happen if you don’t follow directions. Successful relationships are mandatory in this lifetime.
The first step, which you absolutely cannot skip over, is meeting or knowing a person. How can you have a relationship without knowing somebody? That answer is beyond me unless you have some mental condition and attempt to create an imaginary being, but I won’t get into that. You obviously have to know someone to start a relationship and build upon that. Now you need to get to know them. Whether you plan to have a romantic relationship or a friendly one, you can’t have a real bond with them without knowing who they truly are. I’ve heard of people jumping ahead and trying to pursue a relationship with another person without really knowing about them. In my eyes, this doesn’t really work in the end because you don’t know what you’re dealing with. Even in arranged marriages, the pair gets to know one another before tying the knot. This even happens at an early age most of the time. After you get to know a person, you begin to realize whether or not, you’re a compatible match for one another. A lot of marriages fail because they do this step half heartedly or they skip it completely. After meeting a somebody and getting to know them, you build upon what you know. Spend time together and find out what you have in common. Do things you both enjoy doing. With friendly, family, and romantic relationships, you have to spend time together to really get to know each other build up the bond. If you can’t spend time with each other, talk to each other. If you can’t talk to each other then you probably need to put the relationship on hold.
Before you take things too far, make sure you trust each other. No relationship can prosper without trust. After you’ve met a person, gotten to know them, and start to see them for who they really are, you can begin to determine where you want the relationship to go. Is this person friend material or lover material? You won’t know the honest answer to this question if you skipped a step.
Successful relationships, whether they be at school, your job, or household, are vital to function in everyday life. You cannot function in this world not knowing anybody or not having any friends at all. You can try but I assure you your life will be miserable. You can omit a step or two but the relationship you are trying to build will either not go as smoothly as it should or won’t work out at all until you go back and do the missing step. Abide by my words, and I assure you you’ll have a successful relationship.

Relationships are special bonds between people that do not happen quickly. It takes time meet someone you would consider having a relationship with, and then it building that relationship can be tough. When having a romantic relationship it takes feelings, but it also takes two people to put in effort. The most important step of a relationship is building it, so if you cannot do that step it will not work. Joseph F. Newton once said “People are lonely because they build walls instead of bridges.” This quote proves that building a relationship is very important to a relationship; however it is not the only one. Seamus Heaney’s "Scaffolding" displays romantic relations, by describing the building of relationships, the stages of a relationship, and love.…
