Developing a wind farm at Hay Close Farm, between Low Braithwaite and Calthwaite. This will include the erection of four wind turbines with a maximum height to blade tip of 130m (above ground level) with associated ancillary infrastructure, control building, internal access tracks, crane pads and temporary site compound / storage area. The minimum distance from the closest residences is 700m.
This site was selected because:
The wind speed is very good
Access routes to the site are available via the M6
There is a nearby connection to the National Grid
The site has minimal effect on locally or nationally designated environments
They are further studying the area on the subjects of:
Wildlife
Landscape and Visual effects
Noise
Archaeology and cultural heritage
Transport and access
Hydrology
Aviation
There are benefits for the community including:
£5000 a year in the Community Benefit Fund
Generating renewable energy, annual re-payments of £52000
Flexibility of assisting community
Disadvantages:
Cultural heritage and history
Visual pollution
Affect tourism of the area
Unsettling horses and livestock
Noise and flicker

on the wind turbine, it became evident that weather data, research, and development must be conducted before we can consider looking at model turbines. According to the Wind American Energy Association (AWEA), “The first and most important factor to consider in the construction of any wind energy facility is the site’s wind resource. A site must have a minimum annual average wind speed of Carbondale to be no more than 4.2 mph, well below the requirements set by the American Wind Association (Wunderground). After thoroughly reviewing these standards and statistics needed to construct a wind energy facility, I feel our location is not optimal for wind energy production. On a positive note, I have found other beneficial options to consider.…

The SED team has found many advanatages and disadvantages related to installing a wind turbine at Jimmy Peak Mountain Resort. Some of the disadvantages include being hazardous to the birds, inconsistant source of power and it produces noise pollution. The advantages to having a wind turbine would be savings in costs, it is the cleanest form of energy, and wind is free. Taking all of the above into…

We also learn that campaigners want clearer rules governing the approval of building wind turbines in order to protect ‘much-loved views’ from being ruined. He has also provided facts about Cornwall’s plans for wind turbines to support this concern, as they are planning to build 20 turbines ‘each 415 ft in height’, which is higher than St Paul’s Cathedral or Big Ben.…

In “The Island of the Wind” the author Elizabeth Kolbert states that the finding of new creative solutions to reduce excess carbon discharges, and the building of reusable energy models have been found as new answers to climate change and fuel derived from prehistoric organisms. In this article it discusses how power is one of the basic and essential needs of our planet. It is the basis of mostly everything from the function of our homes to automobiles; therefore, to reduce the carbon footprint a group of individuals came together and created a new innovative solution involving geothermal power. In the early 2000’s results started showing that hydrocarbon deposit use had been reduced to half the amount which was once used. Years later, the importation of electromagnetisms was no longer a must because, the land was instead transporting it to other places, and the amount of production which was being done used from reusable material came out with the outcome of producing more energy than it was using. The invention of machines with rotors played a huge role in this project. It generated anywhere from the middle of twenty million to eighty million each year. With the total of these numbers, there was enough demand in meeting all of the lands supply of electromagnetism, along with supplying the entire population. In addition to these energy machines, there was also teleheating. This system was being used for distributing space heating and aquatic heating to generated locations such as residential and commercial living. However, in order for telaheating to properply run one main source must be present. In this case that would biological material from living, or recently living organisms. Therefore, this process provides higher efficiencies and cuts more than twenty hundrend tons of carbonic acid yearly. On the other hand, in the article “Wind Power Puffery” written by H. Sterling Burnett, the author argues that geothermal power is often overly praised with the results it…

The journey to find an alternate source of energy that is in accordance with past events and current trends in technology has introduced new methods for human beings to care for the environment and to protect earth’s natural resources. An alternate source of energy that this paper will be covering is wind power. This is not a new discovery but overtime it took a fresh and better tactic. History will reveal that hundreds of years ago, windmills were already use in Europe in wind farms with wind turbines in order to gain as much as wind energy as possible. This is an effective method in producing the maximum wind energy; however, there are pros and cons that one has to be aware with in this kind of alternative source of energy.…

Many people believe that Nolan County is simply an open grazed farm land that is just a view as they drive down I-20. From Roscoe to Blackwell, Nolan County is filled with many beautiful sites and culture. I’m surprised that Roscoe isn’t called the windy city, because everywhere you look there are huge wind turbines and flat lands. Similarly, to the huge skyscrapers found in the big cities, these enormous wind turbines are always a creative site to see. Even though we don’t have the exciting and magnificent sculptures that are found in big cities, but you always have something to look forward when it comes to Nolan County.…
