In class writing literary essay

Claflin University is one of the top HBCU’s in the nation. It is ranked number seven in the college magazines. This institution has a lot of majors and minors to offer. Claflin specializes in the biology, math, mass communications and early childhood education departments. When I first came to Claflin University, my major was biology. My life dream is to become an OB/Gyn. Things didn’t go as smoothly as they could have gone so I had decided to change my major so that I would stay in school. As of now, my major is human performance and recreation. With this degree, I plan to become a physical therapist. I plan to attend classes regularly and do my best in each assignment and homework assignment in those classes.
If I am having a problem in the class, I will go talk to my professor one on one to get a better understanding of the information. I will get to know other physical therapists and study their jobs. I want to have a career in something that I would love to wake up each morning and do. I don’t want to dread going to my job on a daily basis. In class I will put forth my best effort with all the things that I am told to do. My plan will succeed because I will do everything the best of my abilities and stay focused. I will go on shadowing jobs to see what this job is all about. I will get my name out there so when I get my degree people are coming to me, offering me some jobs. Then I will be a physical therapist and everything will fall into place.

For almost two hundred years, HBCU's have played a central role in the education of African American people. They were put into effect to educate the black mind and eliminate the ignorance. In the years after the Civil War, there were millions of newly freed Black children and adults who emerged from slavery worn but eager and determined to get something they never had; a chance to learn how to read a Bible. I want to be a part of HSTE II because in the future I want to be a doctor. Right now I’m not very sure about what kind of doctor I want to be that is why I really want to be in this program so that I can experience all the parts in a hospital and find what kind of areas in the medical field that I’m really interested in, and which ones just don’t fit me and my interests. I don’t want to choose a path that I will end up regretting just because I don’t enjoy what I do. I am a person who loves to help and care for people, especially the people who really need the help, and I am a very quick learner. I always try to put myself in other person’s position because believe in the saying “Treat others the way you would like to be treated”. I intend to bring these major qualities of mine to the HSTE II class/clinical rotations because I think it is very important for someone in the medical field who attends to other people when they are at their lowest and weakest point to have these…

The new community college for full-time students will not provide a degree in all areas, “All first-year students would be required to take a predetermined core curriculum and would then be limited to their choice of about 12 majors” (Moltz, 2009). The majors that were proposed will be in pre-career fields, which will be designed to assist students with transferability. The transferability requirements to four-year institutions have increased throughout the years and it is important that the two-year college focuses on making sure that student are academically on track to transfer. At times, community college students do not complete a bachelor’s due to the lack of preparation for what is expected of them once they transfer. The curriculum proposed requires full time enrollment and taking more than 12 units per semester, which will prepare students for a better transition to a four-year…
