• What are the advantages and challenges of teamwork in today’s health care organizations? Provide examples of common obstacles to successful group communication that you have experienced or read about. How did the group work through the challenges? One advantage is improved efficiency and speed when carrying out various tasks. When everyone is working together as part of a cohesive unit, there is more shared responsibility and less pressure on select individuals, which usually means jobs can be done more quickly and with less unnecessary fussing involved. One drawback of teamwork in today’s health care organization is conflicts arising when colleagues fall out with one another or have issues outside of work that get in the way of their ability to work together amicably on a project. A common obstacle most teams experience is that some members of the team are always trying to be in control. In order to work through these challenges, every member of the team should took turns being the team lead.
• What differences might be encountered when communicating with a public health care organization versus a private organization?
Differences that might be encountered when communicating with a public health care organization versus a private organization is that with a public health organization, patient information is handled by a numerous amount of staff members. In a private organization, there is a smaller amount of staff members involved in handling patients and patient health information.
• How might feedback be communicated from the frontline health care worker to upper-level decision makers?
