He Defies You Still The Memoirs Of A Messy Summary
"He Defies You Still- The Memoirs of a Sissy", by Tommi Avicollo, the narrator describes being tormented and taunted in school because of his sexuality. He does not like girls, but he does not want to admit that he liked boys. His catholic school and his church condemns homosexuality. In my opinion, I am against bullying and what he experiences in a Catholic school was heartbreaking. All students should have a safe and comfortable environment in school. Homosexuals should not be discriminated just because they are attracted to the people of the same gender. Society should accept them for who they are and treat them equally as they are also human beings and have feelings. Heterosexuals should try to put ourselves in their shoes and try to

In a society like the one we have today, it makes it hard for some to be who they really are and many teenagers are concerned with social acceptance; especially in regard to their sexuality. While most people would say that homosexuality should be accepted, rather than discouraged, there are people out there who would disagree, claiming that being gay is unacceptable. It is up to schools to project a strong, clear message to students in order for them to understand that being who you are isn’t necessarily a bad thing.…

Subjecting others to labels, whether accurate or not, is a criminal practice that happens daily. The practice of putting something as complex as a human being into a neat, little box is a gross understatement of human worth. In the article “No more Women’s Rooms: Why bathrooms should be gender neutral”, by Izzy Rode, it was established that most transgender people do not feel accepted in whichever bathroom they go into due to a perceived misconception on what it means to be male or female. Establishing gender neutral bathrooms at Santa Monica College should be allowed to be made not just for the equality of us all but also to teach tolerance to people. Many students may be coming out of their shell and truly embracing who they are if they are able to do so in a safe environment. LGBT people face enough ridicule for their lifestyle, so why do we bother to make it worse? Many of us know this, yet choose to ignore that this never even happens. A few people may feel uncomfortable sharing bathrooms with the opposite sex, but that is because we matured knowing that there are only two choices, male and female. As an individual, we should all be welcomes in all places, especially something that is fundamentally necessary like any restroom.…

In 2011, the Board trustees of a Catholic School in Burlington gave up to reject gay-straight clubs in its school. This made a sensitive and complex issue of homosexuality, which people argued about if the decision of the board was right. In my point of view, the decision of the Board 's was right. The gay-straight club is not only good for Homosexual students but also good for the school.…

looking back evidence shows that it is a very current and serious issue that should be brought up so people can be more informed. I believe that current matters should be spoken about because society needs to understand the current situation of many people of this current generation. instead of throwing it into the planned curriculum, it can be talked about for a short time in heath or fit into electives instead of relearning the same topics of how important exercise is. people can start raising awareness instead of staying quiet and afraid. In addition, schools can start a GSA (gay straight alliance) club that talks about these issues and how to be appreciative/supportive of LGBT so it is an optional choice. Nobody should be afraid to be who they are. Hopefully, this time we can learn, help, and support everyone no matter…

The discrimination against homosexuality has been around for a long time. Fighting discriminations against gays should start from their families, on the other hands, families should be the first supporter for them. In addition, schools have to take their part to minimize the discriminations against gays, and for sure there are many ways to that for example, raising awareness and educate them. There should not be obstacles between the families and their children in order to incubate this group rather than participating discriminations against them in any situations, whether with or against them. I understand that there are reasons for any discrimination which is normally happens in many cases. However, one question that always Should be asked is what does discrimination bring to solve this problem? Well, it does not have a positive impact on their lives whatsoever because this is abandonment to them, and I believe that most parents want their children to be straight rather than…

This article is a good start to start the conversation about gayness in teacher education and the complexities this topic can have in our public school system and in our communities. Not only in our schools but also in our own belief system as well. I am the president of my school's GSA; I orchestrate meetings and develop fundraisers that go towards a scholarship at the end of every school year. We understand everyone needs acceptance and a sense of community, but people also require help financially. That's why we award a scholarship to the most deserving student- one that has significantly contributed to the LGBT+ community in ways that have stood out above the rest. I also contribute by applying my knowledge and experience to help identify with and guide people who are struggling with their own lives. The LGBT+ community, including myself, strives to make everyone feel included, accepted, and loved; that is what I believe to be the purpose of our…

Imagine not being able to use the restroom for fear of discrimination and rejection. For many transgender individuals, this is the harsh reality. Being transgender means that you don’t feel that the gender you were born as matches who you feel you are, which can result in using other pronouns, name changes, or SRS (gender affirming surgery). Transgender students should be allowed to use the restroom they feel fits with their gender identity, because even though some cisgender, people who feel like the gender they were born as matches them, people may feel uncomfortable, transgender individuals are vulnerable. Looks shouldn’t define gender, and laws have already been made that allow transgender people to use the restroom that matches their identity.…

According to a survey of 75 undergraduate and graduate students from 61 different college and universities across the United States zero students indicated that their college or university included gender identity or expression in its non-discrimination policy (McKinney). Transgender individuals are treated unfairly on college and university campuses. Most campuses have ways for the lesbian and gay students to feel safe but schools are often forgetting the 'T ' in LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning). The value of this issue is that is affecting more people than ever before. Twenty years ago most people didn 't think that transgender was a thing you could be or it was misinterpreted into a bad thing. Now that people understand it and they feel comfortable as identifying under that umbrella, they should be able to express themselves in a place where they pay a lot of money to attend.…

Understandably, many students who identify themselves as homosexuals are not all in the same condition. Some students are angry, isolated, or hiding their emotions because of their fear of being targeted, made fun of, or cast out of their university’s society. Still, other students have gone public with their identity, refusing to be afraid of their peers and the university’s administration. Yet another group of students exist, who chose to attend an evangelical Christian university because of its conservative view on sexuality.…

Another societal issue student’s face in everyday life is sexual orientation. Many students are harassed due to the perception of homosexuality. Some assumptions derive from the way a student speaks, behaves, or appears. Schools and educators should not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or slander of a student regardless of a person’s sexual orientation. Schools can present teachers with a safe zone that allows students to discuss and feel comfortable as conversations come up in the classroom.…

Homosexuals are discriminated against in every aspect of their life. They lose very important necessities like benefits, their children suffer bullies, forced to pay taxes, and the idea that they should be forced to live in their own communities. This goes back to how Native Americans were forced from their own land in the novel “Dances with Wolves.” These people deserve the same rights any other American citizen receives.…
