INTRODUCTION
Information Communication Technology (ICT) is given the name to any technological machinery that processes information. ICT has been around in education for a while although it is only until recently that it has really taken off in the foundation stage curriculum and identified its effective outcomes with in the learning and development in early years. ICT within education can consist of cameras computers, talking dolls and calculators and many other devices that enhance children’s learning and development. All these technology devises have a certain purpose towards enhancing children’s learning and supporting them with the interaction with society. In settings children can benefit from them through a variety a learning tools. Children learn through play and in early years play is an important part in children learning. Through this implementing ICT in to role-play supports children’s imagination and knowledge on how technology is used in ever day life. Children live in a world where Information Communication Technology is an important source in every day life and therefore need to in habitat the skills for the future. There are a variety of reasons why information communication technology has been introduced into schools and early years setting. The one main reason is to prepare children for what their future entails regarding technology. The children of our generation are born in to the society of where technology has now become an everyday usage and implementing it into education is giving children a starter point on how to use ICT (Straker, Govier, 1996).
