I believe that Cattaraugus County Rehabilitation Center (CCRC) had done an effective job of implementing a balance scorecard (BSC) approach in a fashion that reflects their organizational mission and vision. Although the BSC method has been used in the for-profit organizations for many years I believe that the CCRC has made a significant effort to ensure that it works for their organization. There was a lot of push back from the people who work at the center when it was first introduced, they believed it was just another quick-witted approach that would just fail, but as the new director of strategic management began to slowly improve the…

Rudyard Kipling, who was an idealist and pro-imperialist writer. When he wrote The white man’s burden, he argued the American should serve the needs of others. In opposite, Anna Manning Comfort, who is an anti-imperialist, wrote The home burdens of uncle sam, which didn’t agree with Mr. Kipling. She thought the American should solve their own problem first, then help others. In their poems, they both kept repeating the same sentence “take up the white man’s burden,” but they have different means on this sentence.…

Understanding cultural beliefs is necessary to a healthcare provider because cultural differences affect patients’ attitudes about medical care. Diverse beliefs and attitudes about health and medicines, may affect treatment. Also it affects the patient’s ability to understand and cope with an illness, and the consequences of medical treatment. Cultural beliefs influence patient roles and expectations. Expectations such as how much information about illness and treatment is desired, how death and dying will be managed, and processes for decision making. Some strategies for Cross-Cultural settings are, learning about the cultural traditions of the patients you care for, paying close attention to body language, lack of response, or expressions of anxiety that may signal that the patient or family is in conflict but hesitant to tell you, asking the patient and family open-ended questions to gain more information about their assumptions and expectations, and remaining nonjudgmental when given information that reflects values that differ from yours.. It affects a healthcare worker because if a patient refuses to accept treatment these differences may contribute to misunderstanding or miscommunication about health care.…
