Executive Summary
Health care spending in U.
S. is growing mainly due to the aging and the non-aging population and the need for Medicare and Medicaid Insurance. As the aging population continue to grow so will health spending and the cost for long term care and the cost of medication. Some of the U.S. Americans will not be able to afford the health care insurance or some of U.S. Americans will not have insurance. I think the U.S. should take a look at how Canada offers health care to the insured and uninsured.
HISTORY
Health care has become very expensive to the older population and the younger population. The spending cost for senior citizens has sky rocketed. With the changes made to Medicare and Medicaid older population cannot keep up with the cost and extras expenses that are needed to see the doctors and pay for the medications. Some of the physicians and hospitals are not accepting Medicare or Medicaid recipients because the plans that most individuals have doesn’t coverage and or the physician doesn’t only get a certain amount from the insurances carriers that doesn’t cover the cost the providers have given the Medicare/Medicaid patients. Some physicians are helping the Medicare/Medicaid patients by supplying extra samples of medications to help with not being able to affordable the cost of medicine. With the aging population, new and improve technology, the out of pocket expenses along with the having to pay for the medication and having a copay it is impossible …show more content…
for Americans to keep up with healthcare spending which is growing at an alarming rate.
Most of Americans in the United States have the ability to gain access to health care. But for the low-income, disable Americans and minorities they are less fortune to get the adequate health care they need. In 2010, a bill was passing to allow Affordable Health Care for those who are unemployed, disable, mentally challenged or of low-income status. By passing the bill it will give the less fortunate Americans the adequate health care, wellness, treatment options and affordable medications for the individuals and their families. In 2011, the Health care government states that all Americans should have inexpensive insurance coverage that will allow individuals to choose health care carriers, prices for their medication and which providers best fit the family needs provide prevention and wellness. With this new bill the Health Affordable Care it will keep insurance companies from increasing the prices, denying coverage for a patient that may have an incurable disease like Cancer and Liver disease or to deny coverage for an individual who have a foregoing illness have internet access. In addition, to this Affordable Care will give our Americans an enhance quality care and insuring we get the affordable insurance they need a tax break. The HealthCare System in Canada is funded by publicly/private funding system which offers health care to all of its citizens. Canada HealthCare System is pays for most of the expenses and According, to the Canada Health Act is warrants their Canadians to be insured at 100 percent, allowing the recipient to not have copays when they have to see a physician or have an appointment with the hospital. With the Canadian HealthCare System having a private/public funding system, 91 percent of the hospital and 99 percent of physician services are sponsored by the public sector verses the other half of services offered to the Canadians or sponsored by the private sector, for example: Ophthalmology and dental services. With the U.S. HealthCare System it has some Americans without insurance almost every day. In the Canadian government they will always provide funding for their healthcare recipients as long as the hospital and or physician services don’t bill the patients. Since the Canadian Healthcare System is at least 80% publicly funded they are on a fee-for-service and fixed contracts. Which fee-for-service means services are paid separately but at a certain amount that is discuss with the physician and or family practices and hospitals. In the U.S. HealthCare Systems you have to pay your copay before being seen by the doctors and pay your deductible if having services done at the hospital before you are being admitted and if you need to go into the emergency room that’s copay. Along with having dental services in the U.S most Americans have a 1,500 deductible you have to meet before having procedures done. Once you have paid that it is not guaranteed that you still won’t get a bill from on those providers. In addition, to Canada HealthCare System paving the way economically in spending less on HealthCare, but Canada has outweighs/ or have almost the same Infant Mortality as the U.S. HealthCare System in the Infant Mortality rate and the Life Expectancy rate as well. A lot of Infants in the U.S. are born with birth defects. Most of the Infants are lose during or after pregnancy is because some women in America don’t have insurance to go to the doctors to get the proper medical treatment, some women are smokers, sometimes mental illness, on drugs and drinking alcoholic beverages during their pregnancy. As for the life expectancy in the U.S. it is much higher because of the homicides, obesity and heart attack. In 2002-2003, According to the Survey of Health says that the U.S. is 33 percent higher in obesity for women than that of Canada obesity in women which is only about 19 percent. Another way to explore the health status in Canada looking at do they offer cancer screenings, annual pap, psa screening for men and or colonoscopy. According, to the Survey of Health the U.S. offers a variety of free screenings for cancer, pap, and psa for men. The women in U.S. get a pap and a mammogram at between the ages of 35-65 which is about 86 percent higher than the Canadian women which is only about 73 percent. I also didn’t know there are about five types of breast cancer and or cancer. Although, the U.S. have the newest and most advance technology that can detect the early stage of cancer. Its mortality rate is still lower compared to the mortality rate among the Canadian women. Another approach in the HealthCare Industry is how the Canadian could change or added a mini clinic or a fast track to their emergency department to decrease their wait times which has become a problem with the HealthCare System in Canada. In Canada Healthcare System there is a waiting list to see a specialist or to have surgery. On average it takes appromaxite takes three to four weeks. In the U.S. the HealthCare System some physicians do not take Medicaid patients because of the low-income and some of the patients cannot afford the bill. Some of the physician would work at a community health clinic to accommodate the low-income and or Medicaid patients having the option of making an appointment, which the waiting list could be for two or four weeks. U.S. Healthcare also offers an outpatient facility for patients needing minor surgery that will allow them to go home the same day. The U.S also offers a mini clinic that gives the individual a chance to see a nurse practitioner without having to make an appointment and wait one to two hours to see the physician and or days. Most of Canadian HealthCare System problems are the wait times and could use the U.S. as an example of how to lower the wait times.
Bibliography
The U.S HealthCare System has become the largest HealthCare Industry in the Nations.
Over the years healthcare has changed to leaving most of our Americans uninsured and without hope of getting insurances. If the government would provide coverage for the low-income and the disable and or mentally challenged it would not be affordable. With the change in technology and having the hospital move to an ambulatory services and having the mini clinic to accommodate the individuals who don’t have the time to sit in wait long hours to see the physician because of the shortages of nurses and or physician it may not be possible for some of our Americans who go without insurance get the same or adequate treatment options, the wellness programs and or
medication.
Conclusion
In recent years, health care organization are having financial setback. When the American Health Care Association wanted to become a supporter for quality care and services for the Americans and disable that gave the uninsured hope on getting the adequate amount of treatment, wellness and medication as an individual who has insurance. I believe when the government made some changes to the HealthCare Reform Act it pave a way for those who are in need.
