Health Information System Paper
The healthcare system is rapidly moving towards lower cost, increasing the quality of care and increasing access to care. All levels within the healthcare system health plans, providers, electronic health record vendors, and oversight agencies such as Medicare and Medicare utilize Health Information Technology (HIT) to improve their service delivery and systems of care. As an employee of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) Company my Team and I are constantly faced with providers asking for updates and customization of their EHR system to meet changes in the healthcare system.
HIT has the capabilities to improve a healthcare organization’s processes through systemic planning and the management of technical resources to develop information systems that support patient care, administrative operations and strategic management (Glandon, Smaltz, and Slovensky, 2013).

For example, a healthcare organization whose goal is to become a Person-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) needs to align its technology requirement with the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) requirements of a PCMH. My EHR clients often have to review their budgets or take out a loan to buy an EHR system from us that fits their organizational goals. The financial cost of buying or customizing an EHR or health management system causes financial strain on a client’s budget and may affect service
