Health Risk When Overeating
Overeating is a constant problem that many people have today. There are several reasons why people choose to overeat. Sometimes people have emotional and mental problems that they do not know how to deal with, and they feel a comfort in food. (Compound sentence)A very frequent cause is that people tend to overeat in social events or overeat when they are celebrating holidays. Of course, the majority of people who overeat have a problem with weight gain, since the amount of calorie consumption is more than what the body needs. Sadly for most people, overeating does not only make a person gain weight, but it brings a lot of temporary and long-term health effects. In most cases, a short-term health effect can be a simple stomach ache or the feeling of being excessively full, feeling the need to vomit. Indigestion problems are the most common ones in short- term health effects; therefore, they can always be treated with over the counter medications or by waiting some time, and the indigestion problems eventually go away. As a result, the worst that could happen with a short-term health effect is to become a bit lethargic and have some guilt because one overate. This is something that people need to be concerned with, since this can lead to a long term health effect. (Complex sentence) Consequently, they could end up with a chronic illness. The most common health problems related to overeating are diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and obesity. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, studies have shown that people consuming large amounts of foods usually eat fats and sugar, which is linked to glucose intolerance, producing diabetes type 2. Obese people tend to have several chronic illnesses that can take one to the hospital or take one’s life. "After a few bites, taste buds start to lose their sensitivity to the chemicals in food that make it taste good," she explains. Satisfying your taste buds by really savoring those first few bites may help you stop eating when you're physically confortable and also states that eating when you are hungry and stopping when you are comfortable is one of the keys to healthy eating and living.
