An optimistic comparison of British National Healthcare and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act…
Healthcare is a very important government issue not just here in the Unites States, but all over the world. It is something that has a large affect on every person. There are 200 countries in the world, but not all 200 countries have their own healthcare system, nor do they all follow the same system. There are four major models of healthcare systems Beveridge, Bismark, National Health Insurance, and Out of Pocket Insurance. There are many components to a healthcare system aside from who pays for health insurance. Details such as co-payments, loss of jobs, and bankruptcy all have to be taken into account. Each country chooses the model that they believe best suits them, and some countries choose to mix different concepts from the models or to make slight changes to create their own plan.…
One big reason for variations in morbidity in the UK is quality of health care. In some parts of the UK health care is quite poor and lifestyles are quite unhealthy. For example, in Liverpool and other northern cities smoking is much more common than in Sussex or some areas of the south east. Men in the north have a higher mortality rate than those of the same social class in the south, up to 40% of those in manual jobs smoke, compared with 15% in professional jobs. This is possibly due to deprivation in terms of employment and housing as well as education. This can also be linked to the lack of sporting facilities to those earning a lower income. Lung cancer/diseases are much more prevalent because of this.…
Family up bringing/background: If a child or person (adult) has a poor upbringing or background, they may be at risk of certain diseases, if they lived in a house where it was poor condition (damp, mould on the walls or floors, the mother or father not washing the child’s clothes, leaving a baby in a dirty nappy) all these can cause problems, also if the family live in a high crime rate area, the child/children may be influenced by older peers/friends to commit crimes and offences, the influenced children may become criminals, and give the impression when they have children of their own that stealing and committing crimes is right ant then they possibly start smoking, drinking which can have a massive impact on their health too. The location of where the child/family live can be a problem/issue as well, the house may be in a bad environment, the environment they live in may be dirty because of rubbish been left out on the streets, because of no space left in the wheelie bins for the excess rubbish. If the children’s house is dirty and smelly then they might think that it is the way too live and bring their children up like that then when they have children it will be the same for loads of generations too come. Rats or other animals like dogs or cats may get into the bin bags, eat the left over food that might have been left there for a couple of days (which may have a disease on it) when the dog/cat or even rat eats the rotten food, the cats and dogs especially could spread the disease by going back in to the house and a child touching the dog, or letting the dog lick their hands or face, when you are a baby, you can’t help put things or your hands in your mouth so when the dog licks the babies hands they may put them in their mouth, which spreads the infection from the rotten food to them, there mother or father or sibling…
In Great Britain there has been a regular health plan and budget in place for years. Over the years they progress thru research as America does. They are in the high income group which is the countries that are wealthy and essentially in the GREEN, they have the funds to provide surplus of care for their citizens. This is a great example of european health care and social systems using their…
Lord Willaim Beveridge was an aristocratic social reformer who inspired Britain’s National Health Service. This arrangement gives universal coverage to everyone with no bills involved. The proposition is that they believe nobody should ever have to pay a medical bill. There is no insurance premium to pay, no co-payment with virtually no fee at all. Whether one suffers from a mild cold or one receives a quadruple bypass from the nation’s top cardiac surgeon, there are still no fees involved. The doctor’s bills of every single person are paid by the government. People go literally their entire lives without ever having to pay a single doctor or hospital bill. Although this might sound like the perfect plan, in reality, people of this country are still paying these fees, for they pay through a series of network taxes that would essentially make Americans cringe. The sales tax in the United Kingdom runs from 15 to 17.5 percent. The citizens do not only have to pay a high sales tax, but also pay by waiting in lines for care. Reid mentions in the book how he sometimes would have to wait weeks to see specialists for specific injuries. My roommate’s father lived in Britain for 2 years and used this health care system. He suffered from major knee problems and was put on a waiting list for 6 whole months…

Health care has become significant news recently, especially in the US with passing of Obamacare and costs have escalated dramatically over the recent years. Examining two health care systems, the United States and Australia’s, shows how they compare to each other. The United States and Australia share some similarities, but one considerable contrast: Australia has had a universal national health care system since 1984. Looking at the two systems strengths and weaknesses will show how each health care system benefits the citizens of each country. Showing how…
These conditions are determined by the distribution of money, power, and resources. These are the elements of society’s organization and process that affect the overall distribution of disease and health. Health care and public health systems are the social determinants of health and they are mostly responsible for health inequities. Health inequities link closely with social determinants of health. Public Health recognizes that individual-level interventions must occur along with approaches that address community and societal levels of social determinants of health. As part of the President's Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative, CDC partnered with the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (ASH), Office of Adolescent Health (OAH), to…
Prior to the formation of NHS in 1948, healthcare was regarded as a luxury that could be afforded by few people. Although charges were introduced at some point, but did little to rescue the growing health needs (Rees 2001) The unmet Public health demands have always been the main concern of the ruling governments, which was the drive behind the formation of NHS in 1948. The NHS was born out of desire to establish a free health care that would be available to all at the point of delivery and funded purely by taxpayers (Digby 1999) This concept has been widely commended, however, the NHS has become a victim of its own success due to the huge healthcare demands that regularly outweighs the available resources. The statement from Aneurin Bevan “We shall never have all we need” (Bevan, 1958 cited in Tippett, 2004, p.111) signifies that expectations would always exceed capacity and for this reason, NHS will continue to introduce guidelines, new commissions and guidance to meet the 21st century demands.…
According to the Commonwealth Fund in 2014, America was ranked 11th out of 11. America’s health care system lacks the efficiency, quality, and accessibility that other countries have. The United Kingdom has a much better health care system than America. The United Kingdom's health care is more accessible, more effective, has more quality, and is more affordable than America’s. Even Switzerland has a better health care system than America. Many countries’ health care outranks America’s health care. Compared to other countries, America’s health care could use some improving. America, in order to create a better health care system, needs to improve their quality, make their health care more effective, and make their health care more accessible. However, these are not America’s only…
One of the biggest disadvantages to the universal health care in the UK is the extremely long wait times for treatments and procedures. Some people will wait weeks, months, or even up to a year for different kinds of health care. A large portion of the population waits eighteen weeks or more after receiving a referral. In addition to exceptional wait times, patients have a limited choice of health providers, physicians, and specialists. UK citizens do not have near as much as freedom as some other countries when it comes to how and where they want to receive their health care. The government is said to be unwilling to spend large amounts of money to save lives and have preventative measures such as restrictions on who can have surgeries and receive other treatments. Patients are sometimes denied certain care because of things like being overweight, which the government claims is for the benefit of their own health. The major flaws of the National Health Service prove that even though health care is free to citizens, it is still not a perfect…
The Conservatives are very fond of their brilliant health care plan of course, saying that: “The NHS is our country's most precious asset. Over the last two years, because of the dedication of staff across the country, the NHS has maintained or improved quality across the board – reducing waiting times to record lows, reducing hospital infections to their lowest levels ever, increasing access to dentistry, delivering more doctors and fewer administrators, and giving thousands of patients the cancer drugs they need” (Conservatives)…
This policy has recently implement in China which this situation is never going to happen at past 5 years. But United kingdom has been implement this policy since 2011-2015. Free medical healthcare policy are complete paid by government Thus, it's actually a big pressure for government to afford these payment. Certainly, Free medical healthcare policy bring lot of advantage for people who don't have enough ability to paid. It decrease pressure of poor people, create a really basically safety environment for these people, but as we know, this free policy actually create by people who worked ,bought goods and they gave the tax to government, therefore, government can have enough capital to afford these payment of Free medical healthcare policy. It seems like perfect plan to let citizen live well, but there is amount of people who live leisurely whole day, they are the burden for people who work hard. These are the unfair…
