Subject Matter: Loose Bowel Movement (LBM)
Time allotment: 25 mins.
General objective: At the end of 15 mins health teaching, my client with be able to: * Understand what is Loose Bowel Movement (LBM) * Learn the cause and prevention of LBM Objective | Content | Time Allotment | Teaching strategy & Tool | Resources | Evaluation | After 25 mins of health teaching, my client will be able to:Define Loose Bowel MovementIdentify common causes of LBMDetermine some signs and symptoms of LBMLearn prevention and management | Loose Bowel Movement or Diarrhea is an increase in frequency of bowel movements or passage of loose unformed stools.4 Conditions:1.) Incontinence of stoolRectal urgencyIncomplete evacuationBowel movements immediately after eating a mealCommon causesViral gastroenteritis – viral infection of stomach and snail intestineFood poisoning- a bief illness that is caused by toxins produced by pacteriaE-coli bacteriaDisease-causing bacteria- Usually invade the small intestines and colon and cause enterocolitisParasitic infectionsDrug-induced diarrheaS/S:Frequent loose, watery stoolsAbdominal crampsAbdominal painFeverBleedingLightheadedness or dizziness from dehydrationPrevention & Management * Wash hands often * Do not eat cooked foods that have sat out for a long time. * Avoids foods that can aggravate it such as greasy fatty foods and milk products * BRAT diet: Banana, Rice, Apple, and Toast * Hydrate. Because LBM can cause dehydration, it is important to drink plenty of liquids such as liquid and juices, Gatorade and broth. Make rehydration solution.     Purpose To encourage Health Science students to work as a team to plan and teach health-related concepts. Description of Event This event involves a team of 1-3 members who select a health-related concept or instructional objective, then prepare a lesson, provide instruction, and create a notebook of all materials to evaluate results. The instruction must include the use of presentation tools such as a student-made video, computer demonstration software, slides, or any other form of media. Teams will provide instruction to their Health Science Class. Dress Code Students must be in official HOSA uniform or in proper business attire. 5 bonus points will be awarded for proper dress. All team members must be properly dressed to receive bonus points. Procedures Using our Health Psychology Textbook, Chapters 1, 3, 8, 15, the specific topic and goal of instruction will be the decision of the team. The topic must be health psychology-related and you must get prior approval from your teacher. The instructional plan and development of related media tools must be the original work of team members. Please see the list of possible Health Psychology Topics attached. The team will present their 10-15 minute lesson to the Health Science Class. The lesson will include at minimum (1.) an introduction/attention getter (2.) Presentation of health psych information (3.) an in class activity for students and finally. (4.) an evaluation/test. The content and delivery of the lesson must be appropriate to this audience. The team will develop goals and objectives for the lesson, and a detailed lesson plan. The team will also develop an appropriate method of evaluating instruction (quiz, test, survey, etc.). See attached sample lesson plan. Written Presentation…
