Healthy Prison Test

Health care identified as one of the critical element of imprisonment in many contemporary societies. It is one of the factors which comes under human right and it has been argued that it is resident’s rights to receive a secure healthcare (Cohen and Ezer, 2013). Likewise, the European Convention on the Human Rights also verified that providing a safer healthcare to prisoners is also significantly important like the normal public in British current communities (Easton,2011).The description of prison is best understood as teaching an individual to improve his/her criminal behaviour as well as to stop criminals from reoffending (Grimwood and Berman,2012). Dispute to this fact, it has been agued by Gennaro and Jaffrey (2015), that punishment should fit the crime.
In relation to this, it has also been highlighted that health care for prisoners should not be neglected for the fact that they were convicted for breaking some sorts of laws. Further to deliver more arguments, this paper will discuss the safety element of ‘healthy prison test’. To provide imminent evidences on abandoning prison health safety, the HMP Durham (2016), inspectorate report will be vastly discussed.
