Heart Failure Therapy
In the United State there are a huge population of people who suffers through heart failure, and minimal donations for heart transplant. Due to this particular problem doctors found a small solution and created a device called LVAD [Left Ventricular Assistant Device]. LVAD benefits the heart's function and is considered the bridge step before getting a heart transplant. It helps an individual get back to their everyday activities and extends their expectancy lifespan.
Stated by the statistic of United Network for Organ Sharing there are till this date three thousand nine hundred eighty-eight patients still on the waiting list for a heart transplant. There is an additional four thousand to ten thousand patients "waiting in the wings," meaning

In some cases LVAD helps the heart "rest" so it can restore the heart back to health. This temporary heart failure therapy is known as Bridge to Recovery (What is 1). Researches explains how both LVAD and medical therapies together recovers end-stage heart failure and it accomplishes "the levels equivalents to those of healthy" (Jakovljevic et al. 1932). Patients with LVAD implanted are also more likely to survive heart transplant surgery. Bridge to Transplant is when a patient has an LVAD implanted until they get a heart donor (What is 1). A twenty three years old man underwent a successful surgery after being implanted with LVAD for 5.46 years for dilated cardiomyopathy (Schmitto et al. 3). According to British Heart Foundation "implanting an LVAD can be life-saving and buys more time for the patient until we can find a suitable donor heart" …show more content…
Due to a weak heart it can also effect the patients shortness of breath and can weaken kidneys, brain, liver and other organs that requires blood (3 Benefits 1). Studies show patients usually stays very short amount of time in the ICU and after the ultra-fast-track anesthesia they have low percentage of right ventricular failure (Zayat et al. 9). Company's registry are evidences supporting over one hundred twenty clients outliving beyond five years some even reaching to the maximum eight years (Schmitto et al. 3) They analysis the same forty six year old man who refused to go through heart transplant is still surviving with the device for 7.63 years (Schmitto et al. 2).
LVAD can expend your life to at least 5 years and you can proceed to your regular routine the way you want and most of all live with a healthy heart. This device gives hope to those who are at their last stage of heart failure and are on the long waiting list for a heart transplant. Due to this device being very new to this generation not much doctor could analysis the

We cannot know the future, and I do not know what will happen to the person who receives the heart or to the people who do not receive it. All three patients do have similarities. They all have a similar life expectancy if they receive the heart; approximately ten to fifteen years, or possibly more. They all have either family or friends who will miss them very dearly should they die. Finally, they all face death should they be denied this heart, and that is a fact that does not go unnoticed by…
