Spike Lee goes histrionic in “Chi-Raq”, a modern adaptation of Aristophanes’ Greek play, ‘Lysistrata’, here transferred to a problematic Chicago. It seems that the film didn’t please the Chicagoans who, during two hours, had to watch the women from their city going into a sex strike that aims to stop the local gangsters from shooting one another and kill innocent people in the streets. Through the lame slogan ‘No peace, No pussy!’, a group of women, led by the activist Miss Helen (Angela Bassett), decide to punish the dopey thugs and bring justice to the killing of a little girl who was playing in the surroundings of her home. This coward act shocked the neighborhood, including the lively Lysterata (Teyonah Parris), who becomes a fierce booster of the movement despite being the girlfriend of Demetrius (Nick Cannon), a rapper and violent gang leader, who carries a difficult childhood on his shoulders.…

This paper utilizes Osama ((Usama)) Bin Laden (UBL) to explain the effectiveness of “psychology of defeat” and how it was implemented by terrorist organizations such as Al Qaeda. At 13 years old UBL’s father, a Yemen billionaire, died leaving him an $80 million dollar trust fund. Throughout UBL’s early life he felt ostracized by his family enhancing his frustration of his lack of social status. Being overshadowed by his brother’s, especially elder half-brother Salim, Osama eagerly looked for a purpose in life. Circa 1973 UBL lived a much westernized lifestyle in Beirut going to night clubs, drinking and often embroiled in shouting matches resulting in the occasional fist fight. One of the worst domestic terrorist attacks in United States history was the Oklahoma City bombing. The attack occurred on April 19, 1995 and the two assailants were Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols. The bombing killed 168 people and wounded 680 others, the blast from the bomb destroyed 324 buildings, causing an estimated $652 million dollars’ worth of damage, but the main building of the attack was the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The two attackers were captured within an hour and half after the attack for driving without a license plate and were arrested for being in possession of illegal weapons. Forensic evidence was able to swiftly and easily link these two to the bombing. McVeigh who was Gulf War veteran, detonated the truck and parked it in front of the building. Nichols, the accomplice had assisted in bomb preparation. McVeigh’s hatred for the government was fueled by the deadly fire that…

Many changes have been made within the United States criminal justice system in an effort to combat terrorism more effectively however; many would argue that some of the changes are useless and racist. In many ways they are, but since the September 11, 2001 attacks, there was no other choice. For many years after, America was right on top of every suspicious person and or act. With the development of Homeland Security, and help from the Government, it was nearly impossible for an attack to occur. This did not mean that the war on terrorism was over by any means. Many terrorist tried yet failed to conduct such attacks against America and other countries, but they…

From the article The Washington Post by Fred Hiatt it states that “In a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations in November, Hillary Clinton said that the United States needs to wage both “an immediate war against an urgent enemy” and “a generational struggle against an ideology with deep roots.” Starting a war against an enemy would not be a good idea. Because she wants to start a war for no reason, this would create a big problem. She does not need to start a war for no reason and have to kill innocent people. According to the article What’s at stake by Patricia Smith it says “Trump has promised to defeat ISIS by taking away the oil that funds the terrorist group. He also vows to increase the size of the U.S. military and “bomb the hell out of ISIS.” Because he wants to bomb ISIS, he would be bombing other people who are innocent. Just because ISIS is bad doesn’t mean you have to kill other people who are not part of that group. He would be killing some of the good people. The other good people would riot because he would have killed innocent people for no…

Trump’s Strategy spells out that it will utilize and integrate all instruments of U.S. national power, diplomatic, economic and military (Trump, p. 5). It also focuses on getting our allies to contribute more funding, troops and support to the effort (Trump, p. 7). Similarly, the NMS spells out that working with international partners and utilizing all elements of DIME is the only way to successfully defeat violent extremist organizations (NMS 2015, p. 8). Both of these suggest that “the whole of government approach” not just military focus is the path ahead for success. Trump cites the problems with the hasty withdrawal in Iraq as the reason for a new strategy.…
