In the book “Legend” by Marie Lu, I would like to have Day be my best friend out of all of the characters. Day has been nothing but caring throughout the whole book to Tess and other characters such as June and his little brother Eden, which is a characteristic that I really admire about Day. An illustration as to where Day was caring to Tess was when he met Tess for the first time. Day was on the streets by himself when he saw her in an alleyway. He called out to her and she ran away from him. Day could tell that Tess was really scared so him stayed put. He did not want to scare Tess, he only wanted to help her. ‘“Stop crying, I’m not going to hurt you.’ I knelt down beside her” (Lu 85). This quote shows Day trying to take…

In To Kill a Mockingbird Harper Lee illustrates bravery through the characters in a town in the south called Maycomb in the 1960s. Their names are Atticus Finch, Tom Robison, and Calpurnia to educate her readers that courage comes in many forms to exemplify that courage is not a man with a gun in his hand. In Chapter 9, Atticus Finch demonstrates bravery when he intends to defend Tom Robinson to teach his southern neighbors to character not color. “Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is not reason for us to try to win” ( pg 101- Atticus) The quote is explaining that just because we lost in the past doesn't mean we can't try to win and do good.…
1. ” ’But the Director’s old; lots of people are old; they’re not like that.’ ‘That’s because we don’t allow them to be like that. We preserve them from diseases. We keep their internal secretions artificially balanced at a youthful equilibrium...’“ (Huxley 110-111). In this excerpt it can be determined that Lenina is incapable of acknowledging the fact that people can appear physically aged. This is due to the reason that the World State does not allow it to happen through a series of scientific methods, which is meant to benefit the society.…
26) Since Atticus is representing Tom Robinson, the kids are getting picked on. Atticus gets called a "nigger lover "by the town and even his own relatives. Atticus asked where Scout learned that word and told her if he wasn't defending Tom then Jem and Scout would no longer have to mind him. Mrs. Dubose ranted at Jem and Scout about how Atticus was no more use than the niggers and the people he's working for. The day after this rant, Jem went to her house and cut all the camellia bushes.…
Have you ever found a character, maybe in a tv show, or book, that you can relate to the most (especially by a landslide)? Some people could say yes to the moon and back, while some people have never related that much to a character in their life. For me, I’m more of the former, and I found a character to relate to in To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee; Scout Finch. To explain, Scout and I take longer than others to understand things, which could cause frustration in others (mainly peers), and we’re both put under at least some pressure to be more “lady-like”. There’s other similarities too, but they’re either not as significant or I couldn’t find as much quotes to support them.…
Indeed, the narrator paid the price of her innocence to compensate her triumph of adulthood, which is inevitable for everyone(Messud). While Maxim had to pay the high price of staying married to a woman he did not love and even grew to hate over the years. Only for the continued success of Manderley. When Rebecca revealed her cruel nature and immoral behavior, ones that Maxim won't even repeat, Maxim would not call their marriage off. What was even more concerning was the fact he felt the urge to kill her on the spot from the amount of disgusted he felt. So if he felt that way he why go through the pain of staying married to this woman. Why would he fake his happiness and deal with the worry of covering for Rebecca? He could have saved himself years…

I did what I could, what I had to do, what my conscience told me I must do. That's all there is to it. Really, nothing more” (AZ Quotes 1). During World War II, Oskar Schindler stood up to the Nazi party in Krakow, Poland by using false labor records and pleading with Nazi leaders, so they would not send his Jewish factory workers to concentration camps.
