Hello My fellow classmates
1. You have a friend who is of Jewish heritage; however, she has no religious belief. She asks you why, if God is good, He permitted the Holocaust to happen. What would you tell her?
2. You want to convince your professor that the reading load he has assigned is too heavy, given that you also have to write a research paper. You are asking him to eliminate one book from the class assignments so that you can concentrate on your own research.
3. You are writing an article for a theological journal arguing that heaven and hell must be understood as literal, physical places (as opposed to metaphorical or symbolic states of mind).
4. You want to start exercising for 30 minutes per day, but your spouse doesn’t want to. How would you kindly convince your spouse to join you?
5. You are reviewing a book manuscript for a university press. Although the book is skillfully and stylishly written, you think it may obscure or leave out some important facts that need to be pointed out. How would you point this out (without suggesting the book is bad and shouldn’t be accepted)?1. You have a friend who is of Jewish heritage; however, she has no religious belief. Rubenstein describes his trip to the Press and Information Office of the German Federal Republic where he conducted a variety of cultural and religious surveys to identify certain trends based on them. Having interviews with different religious leaders, Rubenstein was particularly affected by his conversation about the Holocaust with Henrich Gruber, Dean of the Evangelical Church of East, which denied the evil nature of the Holocaust by ascribing it to God’s will and special role of the Jews in the history and development of religion. After this interview, Rubenstein stated, “If I believed in God as the omnipotent author of the historical drama and Israel as His Chosen People, I had to accept Dean Gruber’s conclusion that it was God’s will that Hitler committed six million Jews to slaughter. I could not possibly believe in such a God nor could I believe in Israel as the chosen people of God after Israel.” Rubenstein believes that God would never commit such crime against the Jews and rejects the Judeo-Christian perspective on…

Donald L. Niewyk’s fifth and sixth chapters both deal more with outside perspectives and outside reactions than it does with those who were persecuted. The fifth chapter, “Bystander Reactions,” offers four different arguments as to why bystanders acted they way they did during the Holocaust. The sixth chapter, “Possibilities of Rescue,” discusses three different viewpoints on what foreign governments could have done to prevent the Holocaust. These two chapters conclude Niewyk’s book The Holocaust and wrap up the final sequence of events surrounding the Holocaust and the camps.…

During my high school career I have endured many sleepless nights due to my insistence that I read all the books assigned to me. For my freshman and sophomore year this was no big deal. However, after junior year with McGee I have come to realize that trying to read all the texts assigned would be my demise. As much as it pained me, I had to, instead of reading then entire text, read a simple summary. This year I have managed to get by with this same method. Throughout my semester in AP Literature in Room 303 with Timothy McGee, I have enjoyed certain texts more than others, however, the level of importance of these texts is determined not by whether or not I liked the, but rather instead what they taught me and how important they might be on the AP exam. There have been a large number of books and stories that we have covered during our time, but the three that I believe are the most…

“Where Was God During the Holocaust?” Out of the four premises I find 1, “The better question is where were we?” the most reasonable. It says, “God did not murder six million Jews. God did not start a destructive war. Human beings did… God gave us the gift of free will, and we cannot blame God for the way we use it..” (Rabbi Evan Moffic). It’s reasonable because God didn’t, or wouldn’t want humans to have hatred and choose to kill each other. The Nazis chose to do those terrible things to the Jews. God is believed to want the best for everyone. The Holocaust brought the worst out of people. They could have chosen not to do those terrible things. God didn’t make them do…

In this paper, I will argue that the Islamic faith is very influential and what the followers believe about the afterlife shapes the culture and set a strong foundation for people to decide their life based on their decisions. In order to portray this foundation of willpower of deciding a person's fate in the Islamic religion I will go into detail of how Earth, Paradise, and Hell plays a key role in one’s afterlife.…

Google a few books which cover your subject. Then go to the library and take the first one from the list. Don’t go in deep, just check if it’s really covering your subject. Then take the literature list from the book (usually in the last section) and get the books which stand there, but only take the ones which have your subject in the title (or as many as there are in the library). Don’t worry if some of them are not available. Go through the literature lists of these books again. Do this three or four times and write down the books which come up often. Those are the ones you are interested in. You will now have about twenty books. Now browse through those and sort the ones out which do, after all, not cover your subject that much. In the end, you should be left with around ten books. Good start. All this will take you two hours.…
