Henry David Thoreau's Resistance To Civil Government
The purpose of Henry David Thoreau's "Resistance to Civil Government." was that the government was treating the people bad and they were enforcing to many laws to the point where they were controlling the people. He wanted to open the eyes of the people to realize that the government wasn’t doing its job right. He quotes one of Thomas Jefferson's quote “That the government is best which governs least”. What the quote is trying to say is that the government shouldn’t be enforcing a lot of laws or telling the people what to do the government's job is to protect the people's rights.
