The Hindenburg was a German passenger airship called LZ 129 Hindenburg and that a zeppelin. The Hindenburg was capable of traveling 78 miles per hour and it was 245m (804 ft) long and 41m (135 ft) in diameter. The Hindenburg was also a mail airship because it was carrying dozens of letters on board. The hindenburg was the conqueror of it’s day because it was the biggest and fastest airship of it’s time. The causes for the downfall of hindenburg. The Hindenburg was filled with hydrogen a extremely explosive gas but, it was supposed to be filled with helium a less explosive gas. During the disaster the Hindenburg was leaking hydrogen gas. Some people think it was filled with hydrogen because hydrogen provides a lot of lifting force for the Hindenburg, the hydrogen could have been the main reason for the Hindenburg explosive downfall. A small burst of flame started at the tip of upper fin. The was at the top of fin and tracked down to end of hindenburg. Some people think it was a act of sabotage by the nazis.
The Hindenburg land was so important it was broadcast on live radio.
A happy moment turn horrible with in a blink of an eye. Herd morrison a reporter for WLS radio in chicago cried out the now famous words “oh the humanity” when he saw the beautiful ship turn into a fireball in only 34 seconds. That broadcast allowed the whole United states of America to know what happen at the exact time. The disaster cause the government to investigate what was the cause of the disaster.
The survivors of the hindenburg disaster far outnumber the victims. The disaster claimed 36 people lives out of 98 passenger and 59 crewman. Many survivors jumped out of Hindenburg even when the Hindenburg was a giant fireball. The people who were on the hindenburg 62 of them survived. 20 passengers and 15 crewman died and 1 crewman on the ground. 200 crewman were on the ground to help the Hindenburg land and 59 crewman were in the Hindenburg.
