Hernan Cortes landed on the east coast of the Aztec empire where the natives mistaken for Quetzalcoatl. Cortes ran with it and told his men to shine their armor so they will reflect the sun making them to appear to have a Heavenly glow. This worked well even convincing the leader of the Aztec empire -Montezuma II- that Cortez and his men were deities. On Cortez's way to the capitol, Tenochtitlan Cortes gained allies among the natives under Aztec control. Montezuma II made the mistake of sending big loads of gold and silver to Cortez as tribute, still under the belief that he was a deity only encouraging Cortez for there to conquer for more treasure. Pizarro formed a partnership with Diego de Almagro out of desire for making his own discoveries and Fortune. The to travel to Peru in 1526 and then returned to get permission to claim land for Spain in 1526, of which they were granted. In 1531, They return to Peru with 185 men at the perfect time because the Incan Empire which occupied Peru at that time had just had a civil war when she lives in Weak and vulnerable. This made it very easy for Pizarro to just walk in and take the Indian leader Atahualpa hostage. Despite being paid the ransom despair the leader's life, they still killed him. Pizarro then Concord Cuzco, hey important Inca city, and founded the city of Lima. Pizarro was assassinated in 1541 after conflicts with Almagro over his one-time partner taking over Cuzco/Lima in 1537 causing a rebellion. Hernando de Soto arrived in the West Indies as a young boy and made a fortune in the Central American slave trade.
