Hero and Spider Man
Heroism

Heroism may not be as present as it used to be. Actions that are prevented today, may affect another person’s ability to handle a problem. Each Hero has a super-natural power that makes the Hero different from any other person. How they use that super-natural power would you consider it a form of Heroism?

Beowulf’s actions and background reflect on others in a good way along with Spider Man. Beowulf is born full of Courage, and has Wisdom. Spider Man was bit by a spider and it gave him a super-natural power. He was born as a normal human being then was bit and you could describe Peter Parker aka ‘’Spider Man” as a wimp, bright, and imaginative. Beowulf is bold, and brave. He is more of daring, evil and willing to do whatever it is that has to be done. Spider Man is more of a rescuer.

Traits can follow along with the hero’s strength and unique abilities. Beowulf has strength against defeating on his battles. Spider Man has strength and agility. He rescues, kills, saves people from tragic situations. Beowulf is there to defeat; Spider Man is more of saving people and their tragic accidents. They are two completely different heroes.

The actions these heroes make are somewhat irrelevant to each other. The way they go about their super-natural power afflict on people also. Spider Man’s sense instinctively reacts to trouble. Spider Man depends on his natural ability only when he feels it is a threat to him or somebody else. Beowulf on the other hand, is different. He is born with his ability. So, his actions can reflect maybe in a different way than Spider Man. They both are in different state of minds.

“Average people have been known to lift cars in times of stress.” This statement here would be considered a false statement told on Spider Man’s end. “Cutting off a head, and saving it as a representation of a trophy.’’ This statement here would also be an incorrect action. If these actions were true, fate would definitely be a result on others.

The background on these heroes is a comparison. They relate in similar ways, but are just handled in a different state of mind. Some heroes are legendary, special or unusual. Beowulf and Spider Man are brave and heroic in a fictional way. Both are heroes that come from two different stories and different backgrounds that you could compare and contrast. How they use that super-natural power would you consider it a form of Heroism?

A more modern example of this idea of a "perfect hero" is the comic book creation, Superman, who is featured in Alex Ross' edition of Kingdom Come. Both of these heroes are quite similar, but only in the idea that they're both "perfect heroes." Yet, once they are examined in categories other than this, they seem quite different. Some of these differences are, the types of superhuman abilities, the reason that they fight evil, and the evils that they fight.…

Beowulf, in the reader’s perspective is a very strong and noble man. While Beowulf has positive pride, Achilles has negative pride. Beowulf is proud of his accomplishments, but does not think highly of himself. Achilles thinks he is the best and is too proud for his own good. He endangers others in the war out of his pride. They lose many men and Patroclus because of his tragic flaw. They are both well-known warriors, but Beowulf is justified in his killing while Achilles is not. Beowulf killed to protect and Achilles killed out of revenge and hatred. They are both superhuman too, with both being unnaturally strong. Beowulf is loyal to those friends and people while Achilles abandons his fellow warriors and friends and lets them fight their own war. Beowulf is heroic and admirable, while Achilles is less heroic in most of his actions and rather loathsome.…

Most people define a hero as a person who has superior or superhuman strength. Beowulf is “the strongest of the Geats- greater / And stronger” than anyone else in the world (lines 110-111). Saying this shows that if Beowulf cannot defeat Grendel then nobody else can. Beowulf shows how intelligent he is in lines 134-137 when “Beowulf arose with his men / Around him ordering a few to remain / With their weapons”. Beowulf is smart enough to realize that if nobody stays with the weapons somebody will steal them, and they will be left unarmed when a war breaks out. To be considered courageous, a person must face something that would frighten most. Beowulf does just that on numerous occasions in Beowulf. Beowulf faces and conquers Grendel in lines 515-517 “The victory, for the proof, hanging high / From the rafters where Beowulf had hung it, was the monsters / Arm, claw and shoulder and all”. The mighty water witch, Grendel’s mother, becomes troubled with the loss of her son and wants revenge on Herot. When she attacks Herot, Beowulf takes action and conquers her in lines 643-645 “Her body fell / To the floor, lifeless, the sword was wet / With her blood, and Beowulf rejoiced at the sight”. Some heroes use special powers, or costumes to help them win the fights against the bad guys. However, Beowulf believes in being ethical. He does not want to be…
