Hello, I'm Vanessa Medina, a 15-year-old ninth grader at Hamilton High School in Milwaukee. I was born on October 2, 2000. I live with my mother Amy, and sisters Adriana, Alex and Gabby. I have 2 pets, one is a Maltese dog named Buttons and a kitty my family and I rescued named Greenie. I started at a head start school called Guadalupe Head Start-Loyola at the age of 3, then went on to Fairview Charter School, and now I'm at Hamilton. I was doing great at head start because it was mostly playtime and I was outgoing, I was doing pretty good in Fairview too, but as I aged and in the 5th grade I became very introverted. I started having bad grades because I was too nervous to raise my hand for help, or to talk to people that I had known for a…

I also find it frustrating depending on who I am talking to, but I am trying to improve being patient when receiving those very confusing messages. After I read them I respond with a 'What?', and I end up feeling super bad especially if the message they sent was lengthy. Maybe just looking more into the messages or scrabbling some letters up will help fix the issue, because at times who ever is sending a message may be in a hurry, never realizing that more than half the message is…

The word great has many meanings – outstanding, eminent, grand, important, extraordinary, noble, etc. - and varies along with the intent of the speaker and on the interpretation of the hearer. Someone may perceive something as great, and yet someone else may see that same thing as horrendous. The greatness of a being is not determined by themselves, but by those around them who experience, and perceive, their greatness through actions and words. In the book, “The Great Gatsby”, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, it is the narrator, Nick, who judges Gatsby as a great person with a “gorgeous” personality. It is his way of perceiving Gatsby that leads us to also find him “great”. Gatsby, through his actions, his dreams and…
In her 1963 book, A Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan wrote, “As she made the beds, shopped for groceries, matched slipcover material, ate peanut butter sandwiches with her children, chauffeured Cub Scouts and Brownies, lay beside her husband at night—she was afraid to ask even of herself the silent question—‘Is this all?’”1. As a result of the constantly glaring of the classic “housewife” from magazines such as Good Housekeeping and members of the government such as Governor Adlai Stevenson, women in the 50s were expected to maintain a reserved lifestyle, which led to lonely dissatisfaction and an internal yearning for a different routine.…

Term papers date back to the beginning of the 19th century when print could be reproduced cheaply and written texts of all types (reports, memoranda, specifications, and scholarly articles) could be easily produced and disseminated. Moulton and Holmes (2003) write that during the years from 1870 to 1900 "American education was transformed as writing became a method of discourse and research the hallmark of learning."…

| CONGREGATION FOR THE DOCTRINE OF THE FAITHINSTRUCTION DIGNITAS PERSONAEON CERTAIN BIOETHICAL QUESTIONS INTRODUCTION 1. The dignity of a person must be recognized in every human being from conception to natural death. This fundamental principle expresses a great “yes” to human life and must be at the center of ethical reflection on biomedical research, which has an ever greater importance in today’s world. The Church’s Magisterium has frequently intervened to clarify and resolve moral questions in this area. The Instruction Donum vitae was particularly significant.[1] And now, twenty years after its publication, it is appropriate to bring it up to date. The teaching of Donum vitae remains completely valid, both with regard to the principles on which it is based and the moral evaluations which it expresses. However, new biomedical technologies which have been introduced in the critical area of human life and the family have given rise to further questions, in particular in the field of research on human embryos, the use of stem cells for therapeutic purposes, as well as in other areas of experimental medicine. These new questions require answers. The pace of scientific developments in this area and the publicity they have received have raised expectations and concerns in large sectors of public opinion. Legislative assemblies have been asked to make decisions on these questions in order to regulate them by law; at times, wider popular consultation has also taken place. These developments have led the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith to prepare a new doctrinal Instruction which addresses some recent questions in the light of the criteria expressed in the Instruction Donum vitae and which also examines some issues that were treated earlier, but are in need of additional clarification.2. In undertaking this study, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has benefited from the analysis of the Pontifical Academy for Life and has consulted numerous…
