She had to go over the calculations that the other mathematicians had done, drink from a different coffee cup, use the bathroom that was half a mile away because there was no bathroom nearby for colored and endure insults from one of her co-workers. It was past closing time when she left only to see her friends waiting for. They had waited for a long time, wanted to leave. on their way home, Dorothy was Complaining that she was rejected the post of the supervisor even though she has been acting as one for almost a year. Katherine also shared her complaints, and Mary announced that she was going to study to be an engineer. on getting home, Katherine had a quick dinner and went in to see her children. Mary was not allowed to further her study because she had some classes she had not taken, and she could only take them in a school for whites. Mary had to take the matter to court, and by a miracle her petition was granted. Katherine was able complain to her boss, and she was able to help plan the space mission, even though some rules were bent. by a miracle Katherine was able to help the mission, Dorothy became the master of the new machine, and Mary became the first African American female engineer.
Question 2 The 50s and 60s, in the United States were known for racial discrimination, which was not left out in the movie. In the movie, the ones shown were the separate offices for the colored, bathrooms, libraries ,separate sitting spaces in the bus, separate churches, separate cafeteria, separate coffee cup and jug. Not only that, Mary despite the fact that she was very intelligent, was denied the opportunity to study to become an engineer. She had to go to court to settle the matter. Katherine was not allowed to go to the conferences because of her race and gender, and Dorothy was not allowed to lend a book from the whites library because of her gender.
