Edward hall has stated that the context that is surrounding the information is a very important part of communication and therefore the information that is being told should be relevant. A bias within international communication is, that a lot of countries have different kinds of communication contexts. Therefore these differences should be studied before communicating on an international base. Every culture has either a low context communication or a high context communication and that is what makes a country different in communication. In a low context communication culture is everything clearly explained . No things are left unsaid and there is a huge dependency on what is actually said or written. Details are very often included in a conversation. The short time relationship is a good trait of low context communication. As people do not know each other for a long time, they need to give each other more information to actually understand each other . Another thing that is common in low context cultures are well written manuals. With this manual no other information is necessary and everything is explained clearly . On the contrary in a high context communication culture communication will be done in more implicit ways, more things are left unsaid and the use of symbols within communication is common . People expect other people to understand them without having said too much and more people tend to talk to each other at the same time . Relationships tend to be on the long term as in high context cultures, people expect you to know more information than is actually said. A very good example of a conversation in a high context culture would be the question: “where is my key?” The answer then would be “on my desk in my room”. The person who is asking the question, really expect the answerer to know where the desk is and where the room is situated.
