High Eighth Grade Graduation Speech
Family, Friends, Fellow peers. I would like to welcome you all to the 2017 Holmes Jr High eighth grade graduation. One of our wonderful staff members once explained to me “I think you’re going to have to suck it up and deal with it. There's really nothing you can do” This has really stuck with me through the last year. I may not have control over everything, but I might as well make the nest of what I do have control over.

Sixth grade, the beginning. The time where you have the most fear. Walking into school wearing your new back-to-school outfit just to be hit with a shock wave of reality when no one actually cares what you’re wearing. Everyone is just trying to make it to class without getting a minor for being late. For the first time, everyone is the new kid. Everyone is confused on where to go, how to get their locker open, who their teachers are. Excited for the future but also scared for what’s to come.

Seventh grade was the start to getting comfortable. We became more mature, more confident. We were no longer immature eleven and twelve year old. We were now strong

Making the best of every situation even if you have no say in what is going on. Having to deal with things you may not agree with. Most people remember their eighth grade due to something traumatic happening, my goal was to remember for making greatness. Making a mark, being remembered. At the beginning, it was hard to imagine eighth graduation. Standing here presenting a speech to recognize the achievements and struggles. We have overcome through the past three years.

“The man who graduates today and stops learning tomorrow is uneducated the day after” - Newton D Balee Today may be the end of our Middle School journey, but it is the beginning of another one, I would like to congratulate the Holmes Jr. High class of 2017 for making it this far with such success and wish the best to everyone in the years to come, Thank you all and

My 6th-grade year was what I had thought, what I had hoped, high school would be like. We had more freedom than most and were able to get soda for lunch. My school also had a game room that we were allowed to go into after lunch, if out our grades were good, that is.…

Seventh grade is a struggle for almost every student. It is a completely different atmosphere compared to what students have adapted to in their elementary years. My seventh-grade year started as a struggle, but after hard work and determination, it ended in success. I was a student at Bayou Academy and had been since kindergarten. I was always an honor roll student. It had never been a struggle for me to make good grades. Everything was about to change because of my seventh-grade English teacher, Mrs. Maria Johnson. Because of all of the journal writing in Mrs. Johnson's class, I am a better student today.…

Its when you had to start working for your grades. Its when we meet kids from the other elementary schools, whish started new friendships to form. I’ve noticed that this class of 8th graders have been close, sort of like a family, and yes there’s always that one in the family that’s trouble maker but they still fit in. most of us took an effort to know everyone, and not let someone be caboose on the train. Of course, were not old enough to have too much memories but we’ve had a lot and the track we had to take to get here, I would not trade for…

6th grade came to an end and 7th grade came around next. 7th grade was the beginning of junior high school. Junior high school means a new school. And with my luck, none of my friends were at this new beginning of my life. Because my anxiety has grown since the beginning of 5th grade, I wasn’t excited on going to a new school to make new beginnings.…

Wow! Never in a million years would I think I would be here on this stage right now. Getting my diploma...maybe but giving the valedictorian speech to the amazing co' 2k15.... I must've done something right in the last few days here at Salem because it's been rough. Coming into high school was a shock to us all. No harsh dress code...no lines...no silent lunch; We had less rules and restrictions so we were all revved up and ready to get BUCK WILD! (Or at least I was) Until of course the first day came and I got lost on the same staircase several times. That was quite interesting. But anyway…I believe I can speak for us all when I say our amateur fantasies quickly vanished and reality set in. high school was absolutely NOTHING I thought it would be. The classes were longer, the building was colder, the teachers were a lot less lenient, and Dr.Williams was soooo loud! I just knew I wouldn’t make it, but thank god I was wrong! I’ll never forget the enthralling perils, both good and bad, we all shared in Mr. Wisdom’s 4th period class. From the launching of paper balls and powerades to the reenactments of high school musical scenes….let’s just say that our learning environment never had one dull moment! Of course we paid for it big time in 10th grade am I right? Everyone had tons of catching up to do. We all fell behind at least once within our high school experience. But all that matters is that we never stopped trying. Lucky for us we had a select few of teachers who never stopped believing in us. So I would like to take this time to recognize them. To Ms. Brassard you taught me that knowing everything did not make me a good student but merely attempting to learn the material is. You also taught me that attitude is everything and a pretty face is absolutely nothing with an ugly personality. You gave me the best thing a student could ask for out of an educator, HOPE. I finally possess beauty on the inside and I thank you for that. To Ms.…

On behalf of this year’s seniors, I believe that we’ve learned a lot throughout our 13 years of education, which accounts to 2,340 days, or 17,550 hours. Although not all of us showed up every day, especially towards the ending where our senioritis really started to kick in. But, all in all, we’ve been here a long time and have gained a lot of knowledge throughout the years, and I’m going to share with you some of the many things that we have learned.…

Good morning to my fellow graduates, Madam Principal, Vice Principal, Parents, Teachers and specially invited guests. We! are graduating this morning. Can you believe that just five years ago we were in the very same positions as the current form ones are now? As we walked into these halls some of us were nervous, scared, some may have even been anxious on the first day of school. we had to figure out how we were going to fit in, in such a big school. We were the freshmen the low men of the totem pole but as time progressed we got more comfortable with the school, the other students, the teachers and with each other. Now five years later we're leaving the school behind to a whole new crop of students.…
