I am Kayla Bell, a graduating senior from Talladega County Central High School. While at Talladega County Central, I have maintained a 3.5 GPA while working part-time at Dairy Queen. I participated in numerous clubs and activities including Student Leadership Team, SGA, FBLA, Key Club, FOCUS Club and Beta Club. I was also a varsity athlete lettering in Volleyball, Basketball and Softball while also participating on my travel softball team. I must say that I am most proud of being selected to participate in the Youth Leadership Development Program. This is a select group of high school students chosen by school administration as students of character in their school. The purpose is to develop and promote character, leadership and integrity among today's high school students. I look forward to carrying this mindset with me as I continue my education at the next level. I aim to find joy and happiness in the world around me, aspire to achieve what no one in my family has done before, and will constantly keep moving towards goals that challenge me to grow and perform in new ways. …show more content…
As an only child and a teenager who has faced many different problems, such as depression, I struggled to find a dependable source of communication with anyone. I did not believe that I had anyone that I could trust and internalized many of my problems before meeting adults who helped me find positive outlets. I would like to provide an environment of secureness and confidentiality, something I did not always have, to underprivileged children, teenagers, or adults. I am a graduate from Glen Oaks Community College and I would love to continue my education with Glen Oaks and their Nursing Program. I am a very athletic person, therefore in my free time my activities include running, playing sports, coaching and being involved with my family. Working two jobs, one being a Nursing Assistant and Unit Technician at The Community Health Center of Branch County and the other doing in home care for an elderly patient, does make it difficult to find free time. With what little free time I do have I enjoy spending it with my family as they are very important to me. I try to make it a routine to visit with my grandmas to have lunch with them and to drive them around where ever is needed due to the fact that they both cannot drive. I am currently training to run a marathon in May. During softball season, I volunteer with the coaching staff at the Coldwater High School. My greatest satisfaction so far in life, is the fact that I am one of few to have graduated from a college with a degree within my family. I am proud to say that I have paid for me education with my hard work. I hope with the help of Glen Oaks Community College I can obtain a new satisfaction of becoming a nurse. It would be my dream come true.…

My interest in the health field dates back to when I was twelve years old. My grandmother had suffered a massive stroke and the left side of her body was paralyzed. From that very moment in our lives, I became very involved with the paperwork and the health of my grandmother. I have witnessed the effect on her as well as my family of her stroke, craniotomy, heart attacks, seizures, chest pains, amputation of her leg, therapy, to so much more. Yes, this was a huge impact on my life as a young individual, but it allowed me to mature. With the great guidance from my school and family members it was a part of my life that I was able to get through. Learning what she went through, translating the comments from doctors to my parents, and vice versa, and informing my grandmother and my parents what the use of each…

My most prized possession is my mental stability and ethical background that I have acquired from my southern upbringing. Growing up in a rural community in the south and being reared by elderly parents allowed my seeds of character and respect to be nurtured by an entire village of people who saw my potential and wanted to see me succeed and thus pushed and prayed for my wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. As a child, series of unique experiences of being able to develop intimate and loving relationships with almost everyone in my community made me appreciate the influence of everyone on my life. It was not long before I realized that no matter how old or young, rich or poor, or educated a person was, everyone contributed to humanity’s niche…

As a child, I constantly had my nose in a book. Reading came quite naturally to me, Jane Robinson, and I still carry that passion today. As I grew, I gained another passion; writing. Elementary started my passion through the teachers making the class journal about their lives. These journals helped me to learn to write down my thoughts and keep track of them in chronological order. Writing continues to be a vital part of my education that I enjoy.…
