High School and Red Tassel Thing

One of my most special experiences is the time I graduated from high school. Those moments in high school were so special to me, when I remember them it makes me happy. I won't ever forget these moments in my whole life. They are unforgettable times with family and friends on an important day to me. I remember before we graduated, my classmates and I went to Gulf Shores, Alabama, here in Alabama it’s the prime hangout for spring break and summertime. It was a wonderful experience because we enjoyed and learned about life at the coast. We all skipped classes that day to visit all the local hangouts on the beach, just spend one last time together before college. We swam at the beaches for one whole day. We enjoyed it a lot.
Two days after our trip to the beach, we had our graduation from high school. Our school was located in Mobile, Alabama. In the graduation ceremony we had to wear special clothing. The boys were black suits with white shirts, and the girls had to wear white dresses under our gowns. Our gowns were white with red tassel thing around our neck. The ceremony was wonderful. I think I remember most is that we gave our principal a penny as a joke for a job well done. He didn’t like that to well in fact he said “the next person to give me a penny I am holding your diploma.” All you heard then was several pennies dropping on the floor, it was hilarious. Our class sang our alma mater for our school. We were arranged shortest to tallest in the graduation line; of course I was up in the second row because I was short. We started out with 250 students to graduate but at the day of the ceremony they were pulling people away because they didn’t have enough credits to graduate. That day, around 200 students did graduated.
When the principal said now turn your tassel to the left, meaning we were officially graduates I began to feel saddened. Looking back I felt like I was going to leave all my friends behind. After the ceremony we had the opportunity to take pictures with our teachers, our family, and friends. We had a big celebration with my friends having a good time, but at the time I that sadness came back I realized that some of us were going to different universities and colleges. On the other hand, my mother and I were so excited. She told me her experiences in college and that she was very proud of me. I started college in the fall of that same year and started to enjoy college life.
When my experiences of high school come to my mind, I feel happy and I can enjoy them once more. I keep these special moments in my heart to remember my wonderful days in high school. I recently found some of my friends on Facebook, so we are keeping our memories alive.
