High School Diploma vs GED
High School Diploma vs. GED

In this essay I have decided to change my topic because I think my last one just got a bit weird. So, I decided to take a peer in the difference between having a High School Diploma and having a General Equivalency Diploma. People often consider them to be on the same level as each other and as a matter of speaking they are.

The following are a few reasons why someone would go after a GED instead of a High School Diploma. I guess the first and foremost reason is pretty simple it is better to have a GED then nothing at all.

Some people find it pretty demanding to get a High School Diploma whether it is physically too demanding or emotional. For instance the requirements for a high school diploma vary in each state but in my home state of Nevada it is the following: To be awarded a Standard High School Diploma, a student must earn a total of 22-1/2 credits and receive a passing score on the Nevada Proficiency Exams. Currently, 16 credits are required and 6.5 credits are electives. The course/unit requirements are as follows:
Four credits of English language arts
Three credits of mathematics
Two credits of science
Two credits of physical education or JROTC
One credit of world history
One credit of U.S. history
One credit of government
One credit of arts and humanities
0.5 credit of computer literacy
Nevada offers an Honors Diploma program designed to enhance academic preparation and challenge students through more rigorous course work. The requirements are as follows:
Four credits of English language Arts
Three credits of mathematics
Two credits of foreign language
One credit of world history or world geography
One credit of U.S. history
One credit of government
One credit of arts and humanities
Two credits of physical education or approved equivalent
0.5 credit of computer literacy
0.5 credit of health education

And for the last reason someone would go after a GED is because even without a high school diploma, most universities (not all) will accept GEDs. In the long run a GED is way better than getting nothing, and in time it will eventually equal out to have the same exact value as a HSD.

Here are the reasons why someone would choose to get a High School
Diploma. Having a High School Diploma and walking the stage is like a right a passage. One of the main reasons for certain is because having one makes you lo ok better to colleges and also lets you qualify for certain scholarships such as sports ones or high grades, that you wouldn’t be able to get with a GED. Also having a HSD you will receive better jobs and more likely chances to get in more prestigious schools.

I think it is pretty clear where I stand on this matter, I am for the High
School Diploma. I think it looks way better to employers and the schools because you were willing to keep at your studies until the day comes to graduate. I know I didn’t use that many references but I feel my reasons are logically sound.
