In October 1997, I heard on the radio that Luke Woodham, a sixteenyear-old, had killed two classmates and wounded seven others in a school shooting in Pearl, Mississippi. In a note, Luke declared: “I am not insane. I am angry. I killed because people like me are mistreated every day.”1 He explained that he was tired of being called a “faggot”; he was additionally enraged that his girlfriend—whom he killed in the shooting—had broken up with him. At the start of the Woodham case, I began examining school shootings. Two months after the massacre in Mississippi came a shooting in Kentucky, then one in Arkansas that same month, and then another in Arkansas three months later in March 1998. There was a shooting in Pennsylvania that April, in Tennessee…

The Columbine High School Massacre occurred on April 20, 1999 at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. It is one of the most notorious school shootings that occurred in the United States to this day. This was due to it being the first high school shooting with a significantly high death toll (List of school massacres by death toll, n.d.). The two perpetrators of this shooting were Eric David Harris and Dylan Bennet Klebold. The boys, aged 18 and 17 respectively, were both senior students in the aforementioned high school. (Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, n.d.)…
On April 20, 1999, two teens, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, went on a shooting rampage at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. They killed thirteen and wounded more than twenty before turning the guns on themselves. It was the worst school shooting in U.S. history. It caused a huge investigation to determine what motivated the boys. It was a pretty tragic event that changed the safe feeling that any high school student felt across the country.…
Sam Granillo was you average high school junior with a successful life ahead of him, until one day he found himself barricaded in a small office, his body blocking the door from opening. The other side of the wall was a war; gunfire, death, and shooters in his high school. This rampage was the Columbine High School shooting. Many students lost their lives but valuable lesson were learned. These morals include better help from police, improved security, and mental illness awareness. Although the Columbine High School shooting was an unfortunate day in history, society has benefitted by improving security and technology, creating faster police reaction, and raising awareness for mental health.…

While some believe that school shootings are caused by mental illness in reality it is caused by bullying because, when kids get teased it makes them frustrated and angry so by shooting the school they are taking their anger out and trying to scare them.…
Erin has been shooting up meth, herioin, and pain pills for many many months. Her children were previously taken by Jason and Kristy Smith. Jason is the brother of Trey Smith, the father. Trey is currently in rehab for alcoholism. Erin agreed to allow Jason and Kristy take the children so that she could check herself into rehab and get better, which she did not do. She did supposedly get clean for a short time. Long enough for them to bring the children back. When this situation was first discovered, Erin's arms were covered in needle marks from top to bottom and the children had been found unattended numerous times, while Erin was "dope sick" in bed and the babies were not taken care of. At those times the babies were taken to a friends home to be cared for.…

Since 2013, there have been 153 school shootings in the United States, although not all have resulted in injury or death. Some of the most horrifying school shootings include the 1966 University of Texas clock tower shooting, the 1999 Columbine High School shooting and the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting. More recent was the school shooting that killed 20 children and 6 adults at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012. Most parents want to believe that their children are safe in school, but statistics show that instances of gun violence are still a justifiable concern.…
It was a Thursday I had been at nursery, I was very hyper and pumped up bristling with energy, my mum had come to collect me to take me home which I didn’t want to do although I had no choice, while my mum was making lunch I was watching my favourite programme on the TV which at the time was “Thomas the Tank Engine”. Once I had lunch mum started to clear up and afterwards started to disassemble me and Neil’s (my brother) bunk beds, I decided to be a bit more adventurous, I had seen a small old wooden step ladder (It was designed for the bunk beds), I decided to use it, I took the ladder down the stairs without my mum knowing, took it into the front room and proceeded to rest it against the TV unit and climb up it. I thought that this would be fun and exciting at the time, I climbed the ladder holding onto to the top of the television as I got to the top where I grabbed hold of the handles at the back, I lost my balance and I kind of knew what would happen but I didn’t have enough time to react as I was very small back then, I fell backwards still holding onto the television, I landed on the floor with a thud and a cracking noise came from the tv , the television landed on my right leg and the screen was smashed to pieces, I felt a throbbing pain in it. I screamed in pain and the whole neighbourhood could hear it, tears rushed down my face while I could hear my mum come rushing down the stairs, my mum came running into the room and was shaken to the core to find me on the floor crying with a tv on my leg, I was in agonising pain, she lifted the TV off me and then comforted me until I let her see my leg, I could not walk without being in a whole load of pain and falling over, so my mum had to carry me to the setae…
On one sunny morning my family and I went to the Camelback Mountain. It was six in the morning and we were trying to get the bus, we got it and road to the mountains. My uncle and my brother, Daniel started climbing meanwhile we stared to fix our stuff to start climbing. Than we climbed and climbed till my sister started to feel bad. Maria, my sister started to through up and started to get dizzy so my mom waited with her. My dad, uncle, little brother Tony, Daniel, and I kept on going to the top while my mom and sister waited till we got back from the top. We climbed and climbed and finally we have reached the top. My family and I took many pictures and enjoyed the view, we also took a break. Then when we done resting we started to climb back down. We were climbing down when I almost fell from a big rock, but this one girl helped me and caught me so I did fall. I was scared so I didn’t let go of the pole while I was going down the big rocks. So we got past the big rocks and then there were more big rocks but this time the rocks didn’t have a pole to hold on to. My uncle and Daniel were just flying really fast, I tried doing that because my dad was really behind because of Tony who was scared. So I was trying to catch my uncle and Daniel but when I did I jumped from a huge brown rock, suddenly I slip and twisted my anckel, and triped over my foot and turn around with the little rocks and dirt that were on the ground. I fell backwards and bumped my head on a pointy rock and when I notice my head was bleeding. Then, when my brother and uncle noticed that I was on the floor and that my head was bleeding. Daniel went up to tell my dad I had fallen, my dad rushed down to see what had happen to me. When people who were passing by would stop and notice me on the ground with a bleeding head. The unknown people would just stop and ask me if I was alright some called the ambulance and others gave me there water. My uncle went down to tell my mom that I was hurt, and my…
